Annual Leave being Stolen

Am due two days annual leave next week that were originally imposed on me rather than requested, but I have arranged things around them and I am looking forward to the time off. Before the revision I was due to work Monday, Tue and Wed, but now am due wed, Thur, Fri and agreed weeks ago with my line manager that I would take Thur and Fri as my leave days. Got into work yesterday and my DIM told me that my leave was actually Fri and Sat even though I have never been due to work sat. When I asked why she said I was because that was what she had written down and it could not be changed and I have no choice but to work Thursday and have the day rolled over to next year. I don't want the day rolling over to next year I want next Thursday off along with Friday. Can I fight this?

I'm sorry Ms Dim but arrangements have already been made around the 2 allocated days. Had I not planned anything then I could have accomodated your request.

Yes you can fight it and you should as she has made the mistake not you.

Inform her that you were firmly told which days off and you have since made firm arrangements that can't be changed. Tell her you will therefore be taking these days off as arranged by her and that if she objects/threatens you with disciplinary action you will seek legal advice and put in a grievance form based on the fact that she has made an administrative mistake and is attempting to make you abide by it.

You did get an official printout of those leave days when this was organised?

Verbal arrangements for anything in life always open up the possibility of crafty changes, or just legitimate mistakes.
