Managers to Ballot.

Heard a rumour today that the mangers are going to ballot for strike action as RM are now trying to hand out compulsory redundancies to managers. Basically they are trying to get rid of the old school managers that’s been in the company for years with the old fashioned contracts.
The managers that they have took on over the last few years will escape this redundancy because they are basically classed as manager/posties in other words if a walk is uncovered in a office somewhere they send the manager/postie to cover it, they are basically mobile skivvies.
Hope they go on strike and ask for my support….

bound to happen sooner or later as there is simply nothing left to cut on the front line.

we have had a young lad in his 20s managing us on and off for a couple of weeks while DOM has been to whatever meetings and lino on hols.

we were talking this morning and he said he could run our DO on his own and deliver a duty! we were taking the p*** a bit but he was deadly serious and stated he could do all the office duties on his laptop at home in a couple of hours a day.

The days of managers are coming to an end. Team leaders are the future, just give some yes man a leadership allowance of £25 a week and they will do it.

However, back to the original topic - as far as I know there was a brief period at the end of last year that the CMA were pushing for a RM wide ballot against compulsory redundancy of some central function managers. That died a death but recently their equivalent of Dave Ward wrote to some bigwig at RMHQ stating that there were not happy with the way the managers were being moved around, and that they thought it was a deliberate attempt to piss them off so they would leave. Well not in quite such colourful language but you get the gist.

Most of the old guard of managers want to be let go as they think they will get paid off.

One thing I have always wondered is what do the managers do when we go out on delivery ?.Probably sitting about drinking coffee and having a bloody good laugh at us as we go out loaded up like donkeys.I hope they go on strike they wont be missed.

How is it managers bring out mail from when people has cut off, or left a bottom row in due to running out of time they never complete the bit they bring out. They leave the packets in and don’t endorse what they bring back. Many times they leave the pouch in their office till the next morning in case they get audited.
Its alright for them to do it, if it was us, it would be wilful delay…
