No Agency staff used for Xmas delivering.....

I notice this Xmas, in our office, there were no agency staff used for delivery, our manager said....and I quote 'We don't use Agency staff any more because they we cannot trust them'
Er, I was an agency worker once!!
But the main point is, because of this, our walks were well over a week behind on the packets, it ended up people working over on Sundays to catch up.
What a s***te service!!

We have agency staff all the time.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Also no extra hire vans this year so the reserve drivers were sitting around waiting for the driven deliveries to come back so they could go and do an hours parcels before they run out of paid time. FAIL :left:

Good. I hate RM using agency staff. The agencies are parasites feeding on our blood and sweat. There is no need for agencies as recruitment is not a problem now with high unemployment. Workers should be targeting agencies and forcing them to close down. Parasite Scum!

Didn't need hire vans this year, loads of redundant Bippers sat round waiting for the Revision to come in at our DO

Too expensive and the staff themselves dont get paid much

At a guess most agencies would charge RM £20 - £25 an hour for each one and only pay the actual guys doing the work minimum wage. IIRC RM pay about 20 - 30p above the mimimum wage and its direct to them.

However, you look at it is better and cheaper to employ casuals direct, agencies should only be used as an emergency measure.

cost is irrelevant, we are a public service.
you would,nt be very happy if your parcel turned up after the event!
