hi if you start using a trolley how much mail are you expected to pick up on the way round as we cant get the whole round in to much weight i would assume its not good for you back pushing a heavy trolley round for 4hrs +

I use a trolly it the best thing ever, i will never go back to carrying the bag. You get twice as much mail in a trolly.

Trolley is a waste of space on my round, too much to carry and too much dead walking, how can picking up and moving an insecure trolley then stopping be as quick as a bag slung over your shoulder and a bike with panniers? The trolley is all about avoiding claims against RM for work related injuries such as bad backs and knees, not about efficiency of working. A complete nonsense of a contraption that has not been thoroughly and properly trialled by the company.

The trolley is up the side of the my house rusting and the dog finds it a convenient p***ing point. The new bags however have been salvaged from either side of it and are now utilised very nicely.

trolleys are great, we havnt got P&L yet but i ordered the trolley anyway as my bones are feeling the ever falling mail volumes

its a bit slower but i was spliting some bags so that evens it out a bit.

you look a twit at first but it has certainly grown on me.

Its not supposed to be quicker though is it? its supposed to stop people hurting themselves and so save RM money! Why put extra strain on your body for the sake of getting home 10 mins early? If your cutting corners to finish quicker then the DOM is just going to keep giving everyone more work until everyone does the job properly!

I've used a "Light Weight" trolley only once so far and from that brief experience, I don't think it improves things in the slightest. The trolley itself weighs about 10 kilos, then you have your two 16 kg pouches slung over its sides, so you end up pulling close to 100 pounds along behind you, which, in time, I think will give me problems with my wrist/elbow/shoulder. And as mentioned, it slows you down as well.

With P&L you will have loops,at the most 40mins worth,i've carried 40+mins worth of work before in a bag so it shouldn't be 32kgs.

Been using a HCT for years and have no problem with them,we have 30 walks at our place and we all use them other then the odd 1or 2.
Other then a Tuesday i go out with a HCT between 80-105kg and have 4 bag drops put in to a pouch box on a walk that takes around 3 hours.I could/would not do a walk at our place without one.

Many people who have stopped using trolleys do so because they cause them to go over their time, so it's not a case that the DOMs will give you extra work, it's so you can actually finish at the time you are contracted to.

By the way, save 10 minutes? More like 20-30.

SPOT ON POSTMAN a deal had to be struck and if we all work to the book then the CWU did get negotiate us a good deal, however...........
