Forgot a Tracked

in our office there is a limited amount of PDAs , surely all of the drivers should have one each?? when i arrive in work to collect a PDA the cupboard is bare!
and i have arrived there early but still none left!!

the boss didnt sound too pleased when i didnt scan in a tracked item .....cos i couldnt get hold of a PDA!!! i had to write the number on paper card and write next to it if it was delivered or not ,handed in the card but no one scanned it in!!!! so now looks like im in the s**t =(

is there a lack of PDAs all around or is it just my place???

You delivered the item or not with the resourses available!

you not in the s### it not your fault if this becomes an problem tell your dom that you can not take out tracked items out unless you have a pda end of.that what i tell my manger and now every driver gets a pda

No idea but we have 'spare' in our office... me thinks that your manager is not doing their job properly. A call to the relevant RM dept should sort this out.

you are not in the s**t you done the job with the only equipmeant you had use true managers are shitting there selves now over all tracked and recorded items now as you can now set up a buisness and tell all the big tracked item senders you will get there proof it has been signed for and if it hassent they get compo which you get a percentage of and royal mail must hand over all there information on the signed items now by law good money maker if you get into like

If no signature was required then no worries.
If there was and you had no PDA or it wasn't working you should then revert to the old paper way and get the customer to sign the card.

In response to your original question there is not enough PDAs in our office and in my opinion they are sh?t and not very reliable at times. Plus people outside RM think they are from the dinosaur era.

I've mucked up 2 tracked items so far.
The first I delivered and confirmed this on the PDA where upon it asked for a signature? The first I knew any traced required a signature!
The second I found I had forgotton to confirm 'No Answer' on the PDA only to realise later that I had delivered the item and had no way to rescan it again.

Both mistakes I doubt I'll repeat now I'm aware of them but it may help some of you out there.

EDIT: oh and several times the PDA has stopped working and I've used one of the old delivery cards. No one has said anything in our office. I find now it is best to reset the pda when I pick it up in the morning (hold down power button for 20 seconds)

has anyone had proper trainning in useing the pda,the pda is no proof of anyone delivering the item as most customers
only put a scribble on the screen, and how many times am i told its upside down.as for offices not having enough pda,s
then until every driver gets one each don,t use them.
i must admit i am glad it is not just my office which has problems with pda,s in the courier paper all the staff come in
there pants over pda system.

Good one that ? I hope you know that a PDA has a satalite tracking device in it ? When you scan it at the custumers house it comes up with that postcode. Job done.
