Have posted elsewhere and then discovered this room so i thought i would ask my question here......



I would like to ask someone who may know.



What has happened to the promise that we were told before being inundated with still yet more leaflets.
We were told that all leaflets would be delivered in an addressed envelope,therefore making things evidently more easier for us.
What could be simpler x amount of leaflets 1 envelope into one slot in the frame.
It would have been progress if the union stipulated ,before giving cart blanche to stupid amounts of leaflets making the job yet more harder for us,that this had to be brought in first.
It just appears to me that the union is hand in hand with the RM where the job has only got harder and has left us more disilutioned with moral now worse than it has ever been.

Incidentally i finally packed in the union and stopped my fees as i realised that the cwu is just a waste of time.

As Clash pointed out there never was a promise...the agreement stated..

The CWU will be involved in quarterly review meetings, which will provide an opportunity for the CWU and Royal Mail to review operational challenges, product developments, and work together to identify new products and further growth opportunities, including the potential for automation which will be driven by commercial viability linked to volume.

The words "potential" and "viable" are the only important ones.
Promises were made by reps and officers who,in some cases didn't know what they were doing and in other cases knew exactly what they were doing.

Where was it said d2d WILL DEFINATELY come pre packed in 1 envelope.

I see (saw) no commitment to pre packed d2d (and cast my vote accordingly) on facts.

Treat d2d as mail now if theres to much to do in your time then cut off, I wonder if you play it by the book,EG. 1. weigh your pouches,2.do all your deads, 3.wait the correct time before writing a docket,4.Do all your redis,5.Start at the correct time, 6.Have your break etc.. etc.. if everyone did this we would,nt be in this mess ive heard it on here before but until people start listening it will get worse!

the biggest beef I have with the damn d2ds is the fact we're being hammered with four or so of the blighters every other week. In the weeks in between, we get one.

So, next week I technically have 100kg extra to deliver on top of whatever normal post comes in (obviously over the space of the week).

When I asked my bosses about any type of support or help, the response was less than encouraging.

These days we're supposed to have the weight off our shoulders, yet we haven't had a revision yet, so we're still carrying it all the traditional pouch way.

Don't get me started on the '5kg rule'...I'm supposed to believe this only exists where a revision has taken place - I'll be damned if I'm breaking my joints carting 16kg up and down 100 tenement flats.

Somebody is telling you porkies estelle...the 5kg rule on predominantly tenements has existed for a while and has nothing to do with revisions.

Walk Risk Assessment. Where extreme terrain conditions

Each Delivery Round must be subjected to a Walk Risk Assessment. Where extreme terrain conditions are encountered on a particular walk, e.g. steep slopes or many stairs, pouch weights can be reduced to manage the musculoskeletal injury risks further. Ergonomic studies have provided guidance of 8 kg for greater than 1:12 slopes and 5 kg for greater than 1:8 slopes or predominantly going up stairs. There are several factors in setting appropriate values, such as the number of slopes or stairs encountered and the time period over which the pouch is emptied in delivering the mail. This should be determined through local walk risk assessment, working to the guidance provided in the new Royal Mail Letters Safety Standard SMS2.A2 and the associated WTL&L 'WRAP' Guidance, in consultation with the workforce and CWU Safety Representative. Note: Due to Risk Assessment the 16Kg Pouch doesn't have to be the first pouch on the walk and the 16kg/11kg weights can be reduced to for example 8kg/5kg on lots of stairs, steep inclines or due to individual capability following risk assessment.

I'm well aware I'm being told porkies, mainly thanks to this place if I'm honest.

I was more than annoyed this morning with the ' ' fingers my boss gave me when scoffing at the 5kg rule. You know the one, the quotations fingers (think bunny ears).

I feel a dose of the lurgy coming on...

i was under the impression this is what would have happened if we had voted no to the 2010 agreement thus giving you 1.67p per house to adverise 6 companies and youd lose out anyway

Possibly! I would say that most of us knew it was bullshit but just from what sources did this "urban myth" materialize?

In addition lets not hide from the fact that automation of door to door will ( no if ) take place , you will then get the door to door in a slieve and will then get paid for just one item or the number you do.

Yep,can't help seeing the irony in the union insisting on a cap on them when we got paid for them...............

If the d2d's go into one sleeve you will get less time for the prep on the IWT, That is why they will never go in any sleeve as the extra time for prep gives you extra time on IWT, giving less hours being cut from the office.

I think if you asked the members...they would probably rather lose the hours.
After all most of them are struggling to spot these "hours" in the first place....that would be lost.
Asking the members is not such a bad thing....after all it's their union and their terms and conditions.
