Fed Up

Just signed up too this forum as i was told of its existence by a fellow at my local office.
I have been with the rm for 12 years now and have gone from loving the job to that of hating it.
I do not envy those that plan to spend the next 20 to 30 years as a postman,i am planning to sell up and leave this country with my wife over the next few years.
I like walking and rambling in the country but am certain that if i stay at the royal mail for too many more years i will either end up in a wheelchair or my poor aching body back and feet will just get worse and leave me unable to enjoy the good things in life.

Stabbed in the back by the management of royal mail and also the union has just lead me to the only conclusion of leaving the job as being my best option.
I just want to get out of the buisness as much cash as i can before going.

sorry to hear that but i feel the same my feet are killing especially the back of my ankles but im to young to even think about these things and just have to get on with it unfortunetly i do hate the job to

i think it still a good job it just not as good as as it use to be thats all but i would say it not a job for the old now though. i have been in the job since i was 16 now 38 can not see me being able to do this when i am 50

I would look for alternative job by doing evening class / open university course and things like that if you can work out what kind of job you want.

I am learning Salsa so I hope to be good enough to become a performer in few years time and also doing a degree with open university part time done two years so far and got 4 more years left. Also I do a little Euro Lottery in case I get lucky.

well I'm nearly 51 and i can tell you with this park and loop crap, my body aches just as much as the old way of working did! i feel like I'm nearly 81 when i get home now, not good.

heres my tuppence worth ! - iv been postie 11yrs and when i joined the way forward was just starting (making job not as good as was before my time) ! in my time we have had cash wasted on the name change to CONSIGNIA ,rounds doubling in size , cash wasted in general within the office budget etc etc and i have seen so many different managers come,go and even be sacked ! staff that stay loyal like myself and also have hardly any sick get talked to and treated like dirt - i loved my job and like most of us work hard and stay loyal but now i have had enough and just WISH i could find another job - my body aches,knees feel bad ( cant kneel for long anymore) ankles often get sprained and by the time week end is here im too knackered to do much !! its been run terrible and the job is now simply gone from too easy at times to too hard and no way are we being treated fair or reasonable , even things like sorting holidays etc or a day off to be booked have become impossible - its such a shame its got to this but im now starting to suffer from panic of knowing what to do next ! i was settled in this job and have been loyal to the company but they couldnt care less now does anyone else feel like this ?? does anyone on here want to start a business with me ????? its no longer healthy doing this job - i cant put up much longer , every week now i say its time to go but works drying up out there isnt it ! i cant hang on much longer folks ! and no i dont run round and no i didnt vote yes as i didnt want to deliver d2d for near to nothing !!

I generally like my job but some aspects of it get me down, like the sore feet by the end of the week and the bullying we all get around absorbtion. The latter pisses a lot of people off, the managers admit that we can't get it done and it ends up being done on overtime later in the week but they have to ask because our idiot DOM wants to claw back the money spent over Christmas or something . I have to say tho that being out on delivery is nice because it keeps me fit and I can go at my own pace despite it doing my feet in and eventually my back/knees one day lol

Exactly this. One of our managers was a total joke on the street. He constantly made mistakes and had complaints against him. They promoted him just to get him off the street. I know this sounds like "forum talk", but it's the god's honest truth.

the rest are all supplied from colleges, unis and the MOD!!
