Career Break

I am really considering a career break for a few months to sit some exams etc. How possible would this be considering I am only part time (20hrs a week)? Is any one on here familiar with this process? I should meet all the relevant criteria i.e. 2 years service, few absences.

There shouldn't be any reason for you not to be able to take a career break, I am not sure of the process but you will need to go through your DOM, alternatively you could simply apply for unpaid special leave if you are only applying for a matter of weeks. but either way you need to give as much notice as possible

Career Breaks - there is a thread in downloads I think worth a search - but IIRC then should hold open a job for you but not your job and again IIRC it does not have to be in your parent unit.

Or the same shift, so if your worked nights at a MC you could end up in a DO and delivering till 3.00pm

My understanding of it is that its a Chinese curse and is normally used as "May you live in interesting times!"

Was thinking of taking one myself maybe for up to a year, as far as i know you must not work in the uk while on it so only working abroad will be allowed! What im wondering about is will my job be given to someone else in my office, do they gurantee that my job in my office will be there for me and they wont post me to some other office! I literly have 100mtrs to walk to work and am not starting to drive to work lol ! Anyone know the rules?
