By all means, put in for it. It won't cost you anything.

However, it should be in hope not expectation.

I don't think we've taken on a full timer in our DO for about 4 or 5 years.
All the new starters since then have been part-timers. Because we currently have a number of vacancies in our office, most of them make their hours up to 40 or more by doing overtime. Unfortunately though, there is no guarantee that additional hours are always going to be available. This must make financial planning/budgeting very tricky.

Good luck jessiegirl! seems to be the only people getting FT transfers are those with compassionate problems. Then they can get HR/ATOS and other departments involved.
Don't think being skint counts, but it's worth giving it a go. Just make sure you get any new contract in writing and read it before you jump ship.

An Ag went for a full time post at ours and got it recently. Suddenly when they realised he was an AG they realised their balls up and retracted on their offer.

We have had loads transfer out of our office. DOMs are practically fighting over transfer requests because it is so difficult to get new staff on FT contracts so the only way to get more FT staff is to pinch them off another office.

our managers allow transfers in but you go down to 20 hours if you are FT or more than 20. should lose seniororty IMO. people in our office for years dieing for FT and ppl just waltz in and take it.

I was told by manager and union rep that if i wanted a transfer i'd have to accept part-time !!
but i think it was TrueBlue who told me thats bollocks, i can transfer and keep my hours, but thats only if the area i wanted to go to has a vacant spot for me.
u also keep your seniority, i know of several people, voluntary and compulsory transferred that kept theirs.
and as Dorset mentioned, u can transfer on compassionate grounds (probably be easier), so if u can come up with an excuse, like if u have an elderly/very sick relative (even if someone else is looking after them, i don't think RM would look that deeply into it), go for it.

Correct to an extent but transfering isn't CREATING a new full time position as the one that was left could be filled with a new part-time position if RM so wish.
