Re: Return to work advice
The ATOS doctor has stated that i would fall under the DDA/Equality Act and i also have a jobs and befits advisor on my side who wants to come into my workplace to discuss reasonable adjustments...i have also spoken to people from the Equality Commision who seem quite happy to work with me.
So the advice i need is ...should i have my long term duty arrangements set in stone before i return or do i have to return before decisions can be made.
Please i am looking for some good sound advice.
Thanks

Re: Return to work advice
it is hard to say what you should look for.but if atos doc says that you can only work inside then that all they can make you do but you should keep a atos report in your locker at work so if they try to send you out driving you can show them what atos has said. allso is there only a limted a mount of inside job or do you work in a mail center. i was off sick for a while and had to go back to work to sort out what they could do for me long term. just dont do any thing you should not do because once you do it once they will keep trying to get you to do it again good luck

I would only go back to work if you get in writing from your manager that you will only be put on jobs inside the office,

Re: Return to work advice
I'm afraid to say your in for a hard time my friend.
Royal Mail will probably go through the motions and `offer` you a job elsewhere like a mailcentre, depending on your circumstances it will either be acceptable or not..i.e you might live locally to the office you work in currently and being sent to a mailcentre 30 miles away(like the feckers keep trying to do with me)will be unacceptable.
My advice is to set the benefits advisors onto them Access to work are good but sometimes you get an arogant c.unt of a DOM who thinks he can refuse to allow them into the work place
You will get the old line of :There are no indoor jobs avaliable...not your problem the feckers have to make an adjustment,I work indoors now.... I'm a dogsbody, I do PO box duty, callers office, throw walks out sometimes do R.L.B ,make the D2D's up for my old section etc etc I have been referred to Atossers that many times now I know all the feckin doctors who do the face to face shite ,it's a merry go round...Dom sends me to Atossers,I tell them I will take them and RM to court as they wouldn't make an adjustment and no you can stick your IHR money up your ass, they write indoor job ONLY back to the DIMwit,he sulks for a bit, gives me an indoor job, then when I go off with my illness or like when my dad died recently they stage warn me and the merry process starts all over again.
They do this to grind you down into either taking IHR or begging to go back onto your old duty.
Don't let the feckers bully you.

Re: Return to work advice
Look the whole point of a reasonable adjustment is that it benefits YOU and helps you to remain in a job,Royal Mail thinks that by offering you a place elsewhere it will have filled it's obligation they can whinge and moan all they want that there are no jobs for you blah blah blah, I've had the speech off 3 different assholes, but the facts are that they must offer you a job if you want it.they can even postively discriminate to remove another worker IF they have to(so I'd look at that guy who got the job for a start with less time in than you to get the push.)
It sounds like your like me, an your face doesn't fit at your office and the managers pet has got the job, kick up a stink,go to your rep, if he can't or won't help, go to Area if he's a wash out and mine was, get onto HQ after all they are always banging on about how good they are regarding Equality rights in the feckin VOICE or going on jollies debating disabled rights in posh hotels, shame the feckers into helping you, don't bother with Royal Fails disabilty Helpline as they are hopeless and agree with everything Royal Mail managers say.
If you need advice PM me anytime.

Re: Return to work advice
There are disablity advisors in job centres that can come into your place of work to advise your manager on the changes he needs to do for you to safely work there, the union dont like you to bring them in treads on there toes, but if you dont get your return to work right its you thats going to suffer. My advice is to approach your manager on friendly terms and try to get him to put it in writing that he wont put you on a job you can not do because of your health its your best outcome.
