Ok, one more quick question, then I'm done. Couldn't get a hold of area rep today, so my questions are being asked here, sorry.
If a F/T postie goes on long-term sick leave, should a P/T be made up to temporary full-time or should it be filled on OT? Does the senior part-timer automatically get that temp contract/OT? I think this one might end up getting physical, lol.

We generally try and get a F/T reserve to do the job, if a P/T does it then they generally end up working 39hrs, but no change in contract. This has only just happened in our office, we've a couple of long term sick, and we've taken temp contract P/T people on to try and deal with theextra work.

it should go to a full time leave reserve if poss or a p/t made made up to full time for how ever long the postman is off on sick leave

Just to finish this off, does seniority have a say in this? I have a newish P/T postie (kid living with his parents) covering this F/T duty, and another P/T postie with 6 years in the job raging because he has a house to run and bills to pay, and no chance at getting as much OT as the new start. I'd side with the postie but my area rep still hasn't got back to me on this yet, so not sure if/how I can get the senior boy in.
Got a resourcing meeting tomorrow morning, but I can't bring this up without a gameplan, the DOM likes to baffle me with BS if you know what I mean.
EDIT: Should have mentioned, the newish guy still isn't a CWU member despite being offered membership a few times.
