Leaving the royalmail and holiday.

Hi all , I'm a part-time but permanent contract postie. Been with the royal
Mail for 1 year and 5 months. I'm looking to leave the royal mail as I will be joining the royal air force, and was wondering about how annual leave will work. What are my options? I am a member of the union. Do I get paid my 4 and a half weeks holiday if I work my months notice. Or can I take my annual leave when I hand in my resignation? Please could you assist me in my options (if any!!). Many thanks.

When I left you get a percentage of what you've got left which in my case sod all. How it's worked out and what you're entitled to ring hr number on wage slip and they will tell you. That's what I did as my dim was as useful as a chocolate teapot.

One months notice??? One week you mean!

Congrats on joing up - I am an ex guin (or Crab) myself so if you have any questions ask away.

Biker mouse is correct standard notice in RM is 1 week.

You can take any leave you have left over or get it paid back as far as I know - The manager handling your resignation should be able to confirm.

In either case you will only get the amount of holiday you would be due for time you work for RM in that leave year.

So if you stay for:

3 months = 1/4 or 1 1/8 weeks
6 months = 1/2 or 2 1/4 weeks
9 months -3/4 or 3 3/4 weeks

I left royal mail in December to go travelling....from April until December i took all my holiday, needed the time off to deal with a `illness with my mother

my last weeks wages were stopped, and while i am away today I have since been told they want another 200 pound off me 9 days in total my office management Dom want`s to claim back

so even 9000 km away and almost 2 months after i left royal mail still hunt and haunt me

with threats of debt collectors ..

i am now trying to sort out this mess by email

so be warned any advice you have please let me know?
