Wondering if any one knew if time off for TA training/operations is mandatory?

Welcome mate,i've searched but i can't find a thread where this was discussed in a while back.
Will move this to blue shirts forum where someone will know what the score is.

With pay for the two week Annual Active Service Commitment. A maximum of nine days per year unpaid leave may also be granted to cover travel to and from attendance at the six mandatory weekend camps. Any further leave must be taken from the individuals annual leave entitlement. In order to qualify for military leave, then individual must show evidence to their line manager on each occasion that leave is required (e.g. call-up papers).

Cheers guys; its really helpful to know where i stand, as my manager was hummin' and hawin' about giving me time away.

Thanks for the word file with the RM policy; seems to state that I should get the 6 weekends plus another 9 days. My manager however seems to be disregarding this because he has 'staffing problems' although this seems to be his excuse for most of the offices shortfalls. As you can see I'm now in a hard place as I have phoned my union branch and had no reply even after leaving messages to add to this my union rep is not avaiable. I am fully aware duties need to be covered but it just feels as though I'm being punished for trying to gain new skills :dcfo

Dare him to not allow you to go on ta training etc, lol the army will come down on him like a ton of bricks! What he is saying is rubbish mate, get someone from the ta to ring and explain to your dom the situation!
