In Winchester Delivery Office they have had industrial problems for a long time now.
A culture of managerial bullying and harrassment has been actively encouraged by senior management where individual posties are forced to work past their time, without claiming overtime and if they dare threaten to finish on their time they are threatened with being taken off their delivery,threatend with the conduct code and not just for wilful delay but anything the lino can pull out of his backside.
Questions over performance, misuse of the thirty-minutes variation of hours, anything to intimidate and manipulate. For a long time now they have been lapsing vacant duties and pushing the workload on the posties. They can't claim, They are too frightened to cut off. They have seen examples of what happens if you put in a greivence or B&H complaints. All the lapsing, without negotiation with the local rep; he is just told what is being lapsed.
This issue was raised with the national negotiator for deliveries. The Divisional rep has been involved but with no joy.The IR framework has been exhausted this has been happening since August of last year. In October, LAST YEAR, the Winchester membership finally stood up as one and unanimously supported a ballot
for industrial action. All the paper work has been submitted all I's dotted and T's crossed.
So what has happened? So far, absolutely jack.I have put this item on this thread because I believe the new agreement talks of transforming the relationship and there are a lot of senior reps who defend the said agreement on this thread. So I wondered if those senior reps could explain to my brothers and sisters at WINCH exactly when this new relationship starts?

Cackhill, has the office received ballot papers at this stage or not. If not then my suggestion is to send a letter by special delivery to Dave Ward CWU informing him that unless you receive recognition of your complaint and support for industrial action including ballot papers within the next 14 days, you will inform ACAS of the plight that your office is in, and ask them to intervene between the three parties.

This is terrible.

The main reason I was on strike in 2009 was about working practises, mangement B&H, and unfair, unachievable workloads.

None of which were addressed by the resulting agreement.

The new relationship started the minute the strikes were called off.
The mistake you have made was in thinking that you and i and the rest of the membership were invited to the honeymoon.
Every new relationship requires sacrifices like not going to the pub with your mates as often or giving up the football and the Winchester Delivery Office was one of those sacrifices....so...don't rock the boat.

Not to worry...when privatisation comes along and the new RM/CWU marriage ends and the CWU's clothes are thrown out into the front garden....HQ will be back round at your place looking for a sofa to kip on.

Well I've mentioned about being in a union when privatisation reared its head once before and believe me after the divorce comes the new nuptials with the new bride.....and the greased palm won't be for the members benefit..................puppet on a string springs to mind..........oh and ask for the small brush handle when it comes to sweeping the streets.

Disgusting. It's time that the members started looking at what the divisional reps are actually doing and kicking them into representing the membership. What's wrong with these guys? Too frightened to cut off? come on Winchester posties it's time you stood up to the playground bullies and if the div reps won't represent you it's time to do the unthinkable and d.i.y. sometimes you have to do what ever it takes.
