If it's immediate family (partner, parents, children, or siblings) you get 5 days paid Special Leave. And I think you get another day for the funeral.
For parent in laws it's one day's paid special leave.
You can request more time, but that would be unpaid special leave, or out of your Annual Leave.
For download on Special Leave see: http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 36#p243445" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You're welcome mate. Sorry for your loss.
If you put 'bereavement' into the search facility you will find a previous thread about this.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Behave.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Time and place was the issue.

1. He needed a quick answer so it was probably best to point him to the right download rather than suggesting contacting a manager. We all know what a lot of them are like.

2. Poor taste if it was a joke. Bad advice if it was not.

We do have threads that take the micky out of RM and posters and thats fine, but just like the real world there is a time and place for everything.
