What now, for the way forward?

With the agreement basically scrapped now, what next? Wasn't it RMs' view all along it was about taking the weight off shoulders and back? We could all see through that! It was about getting rid of driving duties!, otherwise we would still be using car/vans, and HCTs which have been scrapped reverting back to bike and pouch. The RM still want their cake and eat it though, with later starts, later finishes, longer Saturdays, more D2Ds, basically all the best bits of the agreement! We might have won the battle, but there is a long way before winning the war!

I don't believe the agreement will be scrapped.
It will be tweaked and watered down to the point where members see no benefit at all but it will continue.
To quote someone..."there is no plan b"...
And stop calling it The Way Forward...it's doing my head in.

I remember the "way forward", from day one, the "way forward" started going backwards and hasn't stopped yet.

However much the "something for nothing" brigade "tweak" 2010 & Beyond, if the tired, old, gameplan, remains the same as it's always been, one man doing the work of two men, then it will be forever well and truly fooked.

Billy is 57 and i would imagine financially secure enough not to have to pick up a bag again.
Dave is a bit younger 51? but i still can't see any of them back on deliveries any time soon,a nice comfortable place will probably be found somewhere in the trade union movement for both if it were all to go pear-shaped.

i dont mean to scare monger but i was out on sat night and got talking to an old guy that is my friends father in law....

i was telling him about the situation with RM and the modernisation was not going very well, CWU gone to ground (our in house rep has jacked) anyway we were on for hours on the subject when TNT possible buy out was mentioned.

his view on it was that TNT would not want to pay a workforce £8-£10 per hour and that (in his opinion) this government would let royal mail go under should it run into trouble, allow TNT to run it with a view to owning it, making us all re-apply for our old jobs on min wage!

i have hardly slept since!
needless to say im staying in this weekend, even if i do have to watch dancing on ice.
