Break Entitlement

May have been mentioned here before somewhere, but trying to find out what breaks we should be getting.

Do 30 hrs a week over 5 days. So for a 6 hour shift at the moment, we get 20mins break. Been informed we should be getting 30mins on a 6 hour shift. Is there any guideline or anything set in with national agreements etc regarding break entitlements???

Im 25 hrs @ 5 per day and i get 30 minutes . Its standard afaik !!

i was 25 over 5 and 20 mins break (checked with cwu)
when i was working overtime it went up to 30mins at 6hrs.

there is a sticky thread somewhere where it lists break entitlement or there should be
20 min = ? - 4hr 59min
30 min = 5hr - 6hr 59min
40 min = 7hr - 8hr 59min
blah blah blah

Got a break question.

I was recently told by an ex rep that when in doing general o/t (i.e. it isnt for a specific duty) i'm not entitled to a break unless its on a sunday. He said if i come in to do a specific duty eg PD1 or walk ab12/34 i'm entitled to the breaks for the duty as mentioned above. But not entitlement to a break if i come in early (start 14:00) to do bits here & there.

I've told him when i come in to do any o/t (specific duty or not) i either take a break or get break time added to o/t if i havent. I've told him that i've even spoken to lino & dom about taking break. He said good for me, but if dom ever asks about why taking break remind him what i agreed with him. He thinks dom has decided to bite the bullet on this cos if i dont come in early (only happens occasionally) to do a bit of delivery then the dom / lino with have to do it.

What i'd like to know is if this is actually true? no break entitlement to general o/t.

i took 20mins break for over 2years on a 5 hr+ day and the CWU agreed!

as for OT we questioned this xmas 09 and never got an answer on anything over 8hrs.
got some guys working 40 over 4 in our office, will ask them tomorrow and report back.

You are entitled to the break that relates to your attendance time including overtime not your conditioned hours..

From the way forward agreement...

Conditioned attendances extended by overtime (or by SA on Sunday) consecutive with the beginning or end will attract additional breaks if the entitlement for the total attendance (overtime plus conditioned hours), in the table above, is greater than the breaks already scheduled during the conditioned attendance. For example, an 8 hour conditioned attendance with 4 hours overtime would attract an extra 20 minutes (i.e. 60 minus 40). In most cases, particularly if the additional break is for only 10 minutes, it should be taken between the period of overtime and the normal conditioned attendance.

No, never actually took a break, but add it onto my o/t at the end of the week.

Was told today by a postie, those on temporary contracts have different breaks to those on a permanent contract. She used to do 6 hours as a temp and got 20mins per day, now she is on a full time contract and gets 30mins a day............any info on this???????

If I should have had 30mins per day i'll be owed 10x50mins= 5.00hrs o/t whoopee!!!!! But would be lucky to get it by next christmas

Actually if she is FT thn she is entitiled to 40 minutes.

and.......... 10 x 50 minutes is not 5 hours - its 8 Hours and 20 minutes - dont undersell yourself

I did know how to multiply before I started this job, my mind and brain has been brainwashed now and is numb

RE 40mins.......She is still on a 6hour contract tho
