d2ds are 'more important'
another 'huddle' today in the centre of the floor, and this time told to box in your d2d first and foremost,...but in columns not rows. each prep fitting has 7 columns from top to bottom. 2 columns to be boxed in on monday, then one for each other day of the week. the reason being,,,,if a postie goes sick midweek, you will know exactly where to prep the d2d from. now this last few weeks, the d2ds have not been touched AT ALL. they,ve just been put back on a york and 'disposed of'
...also, they,ve been telling us to cut off from prepping in mail at about 7.45 in order to have our meal relief, then get tied up so we can be out on time (9:10), any mail that you have left is to be just left til the next day and so on, etc. but they must,ve had their arses kicked from their heirarchy, cos today, they said as d2d is now part of our workload and we get paid for them regardless,....we must get them out first and foremost. i asked 'what if we cant get our mail prepped in time', ,,,,they answered' so be it, it will just have to be left until the next day, the d2ds are of the upmost,!!!! this system is 100% doomed to failure. but they will NOT admit they are wrong. privatisation is definately coming. its their plan.

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
Did you not have a local D2D agreement when it 1st came in,and the guidelines say the D2D's are put in last!...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It can make some sense to do columns , that way the 20 percent is then distributed over all pouches rather than 1 or 2.If everybody was singing from the same hymn sheet it could work but hey this is royal mail

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
yes,...but they are now insisting the d2ds are put in first, cos if you put your mail in first, by the time you are due out, theres normally not enough time to prep ANY d2d. so they are getting left week in, week out. when it was the old system, they were,nt bothered if the d2d went out, cos if you didnt do them, then you didnt claim for them so they were,nt paying you. but the new system means they are paying you regardless. so the mail is now being left as a result. its fekn barmy. ive never known anything like it in my 18 yrs.POSTMAN wrote:Did you not have a local D2D agreement when it 1st came in,and the guidelines say the D2D's are put in last!...http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 42&t=27392" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Items should be placed last into the prep frame after any walk sequenced or manual mails.

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
We normally prep the D2Ds in columns, as Wessex says it "spreads" the load over several bags. Most people throw the D2Ds in 1st (although I agree its says do them last) That'll probably take you about 15mins, which you're paid for, and over a week will help make up for the lousy "one payment" deal we got for delivering them.
It's easier than trying to stuff them beind the mail and also helps to fill in any time if you're waiting for your next truck to arrive.
We normally manage to throw all the mail off in time, and if we don't it's mail sort etc that's left for the next day.
When we bundle up we only take the D2Ds if we're going there. Some anal types insist you take all the D2Ds if you're covering their day off
, but generally if you leave a few they get delivered over the rest of the week.
I can understand RM being keen to get them all delivered as they're obviously making a lot more profit out of them now but that's no bad thing if that profits going back into the business.
As for the rest of the job Daveyeff don't get stressed over it just follow the guidelines and work properly.

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
before you are due out on the street. we are due out for 9.10. they,ve been making us cut off from prepping in mail at about 7.45, so we can take 20mins meal relief which is at 8am. then to get your redirections done, kill offs, tied up etc. in this time there has been NO time at all to prep in any d2d. as a result, they are being left, as well as trays of unprepped letters and flats. and this is going on every day.fishtank wrote:This bit i don't get...not enough time before what exactly?daveyeff wrote: theres normally not enough time to prep ANY d2d.

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
We had 7 sets this week. 3 which should have been done last week, but not delivered till late Thursday last week. Took about 45 minutes to prep 1 row.

Are management manipulating the situation so that you are effectively "cutting off" indoor work so that you don't "cut off" outdoor work?
If that's the case then what has your rep said about it?...that's what a weekly resource meeting is for.
Your DOM needs his arse kicked...if there isn't enough time to cover the indoor work then that needs to be addressed and resourced...not ignored.
Some of these "managers" wouldn't last 5 minutes on the outside world.

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
Hi Daveyeff I know some of these walks are getting horrendous but most of our frames are only single slots (not doubled up) so a column is only 4 rows of 20 slots = 80 Delivery points. We don't use the top row as per H&S. (Although some people have started to use them for the Proposed Revision changes, which I disagree with as I believe the max for a Frame is meant to be 4 columns plus 2 wings.)
Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs but have you tried stacking the D2Ds in piles on your bench and then just taking one off the top of each pile before you throw it in? I still see some people in our office throw one lot off and then go round the frame with further D2Ds no wonder it takes them so long

Davey, best you get your rep to flag everything you've just told us to your ADR or DIV rep ASAP.
You are seriously been screwed over.
By the sounds of it you need extra hrs in your office.
