digital tacho card

Post by ridgewoodrover »

hi had a problem last week were i left my digital tacho card in a machine over nite(24 hours), the guy who downloads and inputs hours said i wouldnt beable to drive on my shift, so i didnt!(left card in the lorry on break for 10 hours ) .Then a different manager came in to take over near the end of my shift and i was told i could drive and all i needed to do was get a printout and fill in ,i refused to do this until it was cleared up because of the consquences involed? i was then threatend that the manager mite take me down the conduct code for leaving my card in the vehicle ,can someone please help
1/ is leaving your tacho card in for longer than it should be a conduct code offence ?
2/do you just get a printout the next time on shift and fill in the necessary imformation ?

When u stopped did u put yourself onto break, poa or were u still on crosshammers? The printout will show the INS and outs anyway. The conduct code bit I would say is the leaving the card in the lorry. I've always felt it as akin to leaving you're bank card with pin number lying about. Anyone could use you're tacho and then work extra hours on their own. In other words money for nothing. I suppose to comes down to how sensible you're manager is.

this happens a lot in our place and i have done it myself once.what we do is get the manager to print off a note stating that the driver had not worked those hours and that it was a mistake and we just keep it our selves in case vosa checks up on it.we have had no problems using this system but we have yet to be visited by vosa so i guess we wait and see.
who the hell invests £2 billion into a servic and makes it worse?????????????
you really couldn't make it up!!!!!!!!!!!
