TYING DOWN FRAMES!

i'm a 25 hour contract employee and i've been told i need to tie down my own frame, when i started the job i was told the frame would be tied down and i would only have to deliver the mail!
i am working over my time most day's due to this and i was told that if i finished at my cutting off time i would get done for willful delay!
help!

You have a 30 minute meal relief,then i'm guessing a 3-30hr walk,that leaves 1hr to tie up get out and possibly get back or pouch off which tbh is pushing it.
Do you have to prep anything or do redi's?

Also how long have you been in the job and have you a rep there you can speak to.

15 min pouching off time
4 hours to to the walk i was on!
my starting time is 9:15 till 2:15
i can't go into the office till 9am as i've got to do the school run in the morning, the other part timers are comming in early to tie the frames down but i can't and i don't think i should as i don't get paid to come in early!
spoke to the rep he said my redirects and d2d will be done but i need to tie it down, i got took into the office to be told i'll need to do it myself!
i feel under pressure then i don't want to say when i'm working over my time as i got told i was too slow!
i started in may and i loved the job worked at a great office with a great manager then i got moved to the place i'm at in october it's a total differant wold in this office not nice at all!
i didn't have any bother at all at the place i started in just feel pressured into working over my time!

oh and i do the gone away's and there's usually quite a bit of them each day!

i am on a 25 hour contract and you shouldn't have to tie down your frame, i do tie my own frame everyday but i get an extra 30 mins on the docket for it but when i first started i refused to do tying down untill i knew the rounds i was on as most rounds in our office going with the frame as they are is not the quickest way to do the rounds,

i've just been put on a new walk and i was told it is a shorter walk only 3 and a half hours so i got took in the office again to be told he'l tie it down this week but i'll need to do it myself after that!
he tied the frame down on friday i never got out till 10:55 and i didn't finish till 4:50 he knew i'd be working over my time cause he told me the next day the office has never had that amont of mail! some of the other guy's finished at 4pm!
i've got 2 kids to collect and i have been calling friends and family to pick them up and the manager know's this!

there is a load of other stuff i could go on for days but i won't boar you with it all!

you work to your time and if you dont want to do over time you cut off or stream the frame,,

you take out first class mail only i think but when you tell them yout streaming they usually take part of the round off you so you can finish in time,

suzyxcx, your not alone, we know exactly what you are going through, you'll get some good advice on here but most of all, try not to stress about it.

You are NOT paid enough to get stressed about it.

You can finish on your time and they cannot charge you with willful delay if you just want to work your contracted hours. You are probably past the six month 'trial period' but for full employment protection from shady Royal Mail managers I think you need to be in the job a year. Try and hold out till then and the power will shift more in your direction.

I got told i was too slow!

We have heard and seen them all at RMC, I think this one is no '23' out of '100' excuses/bullying tactics managers spout to make you complete. If you ask them to 'walk test' you they nearly always walk away with their head down. You must remember these creatures are bonus driven and want the mail out of the door at all costs. Of course they also do not want to do it themselves, which they would potentially have to do if you cut off.

However, most importantly, once they know you are not going to be intimidated they nearly always back off.

And finally if they persist, ask for a bullying and harassment form and raise a grievance.

Job done.

You can't refuse to tie down,you can't refuse to prep.do redirections or whatever.
What you can do is inform management of the impact that doing all of this stuff will have on your potential delivery span.
If you are doing a 4hr delivery and end up with an hours indoor work then you can only do a 3hr delivery and either "flex up" the other hour or cut off....your choice.
If you start refusing to tie down or prep or whatever you will just walk straight into their trap and get done for what they consider refusing a reasonable request.
