Late D2D

This week we will be asked to deliver last week's D2D on top of the 5 we have planned for this week, making a total of 6.
Cannot find in the new D2D agreement if there is a cut-off point to accept D2D items if late.

There isn't

All it says about late arrivals is:

In addition to the above special attention will need to be given to Bank Holiday weeks through the weekly resourcing meetings, units will also need to have agreed contingency arrangements in place for late arrivals. (page 21)

So I suppose the most popular contingency arrangement for managers is to dump it on the Posties and forget about it themselves. Still more D2D on the indoor means less outdoor time.

Our manager has not adhered to the new agreement letting posties do as they wish with the D2D items, stating Interim agreement on D2D before revision. So we can refuse to deliver them as they are not presented to us before commencing delivery on the weds.
As he is still using old agreement....he can't have it both ways !!!

From the Nationally Agreed D2D docs...

The returns process will cease one week after the national agreement comes into force, giving time to remove any undelivered items remaining from the pre-agreement period. Steps have been taken to stop surplus items being provided to delivery offices, so there should be no sizeable volumes remaining undelivered in the office. Any surpluses should be investigated as the system is not able to provide additional labels and therefore boxes of items. All delivery points (except opt outs) should be delivered so that any occasional surplus materials may be disposed of locally

What about what happened in our office today? Got back from delivery (2 hours over my official finish time- I'm so glad mail is "dropping off") having done this weeks d2d's on one section, only to find that some ****wit had sneaked into our office (it's a sub do) with d2d's dated 13/12/2010. They were all for a famous brand supermarket with special offers for the Xmas weeks that all ran out the week before New Year. Are they taking the p***? Surely I should go round to our local brand supermarket and ask to see the manager and report to him just what RM management does with their leaflets once they've taken their money?
I am so pig-sick of the complete an utter morons who run this job.

i didnt deliver any of the 6 d2ds last week due to mail volumes, im not back in till weds and no doubt there will be another 6 awaiting urgent delivery

Please could anybody qualify the rules on late D2D.
I am still catching up with the mail volumes generated by the back log @ mail centres, the bad weather and also the
fact that I only work a 30 hr week.
Last week we had 1 D2D delivered Mon and 3 turn u gradually throughout the week with the Management saying that
1; D2D are classed as live mail & therefore as important as other mail
2; Even if D2D's are late then we have up to 7 days to deliver them.
Last week I concentrated on getting the mail out working 5 hours overtime to clear some of the backlog.
Today I did 1/6 of D2D but to the detriment of the 1st Class. I now have 5 bags of "flats" under my frame to catch up on and more
D2D's despite working overtime again today.
This week we've only got one D2D (so far). However, my Manager has said that I need to concentrate on delivering the D2D items.
A colleague has also been told that she has to deliver 7 lots. In her case she was off last week & D2D's were not completed on her round.
She has now been told that she has to clear this backlog.
Where do we stand on this. I do not trust the Manager's word as he regulary fails to pay overtime and tried to "bank" our hours when it snowed.

Any advice welcomed.

You work as directed.
If you don't want to work over your time, then seek clarification as to what they want you to do within your contracted hours. You can't do it all.
If you want the o/t - fill your boots.
Seek clarification on the number of D2D - the agreement says 6 as of Jan 2011 (but it is vague). Personally I think 6 is the max at the moment but ask your Area Rep.
