STRIKE ACTION GOES AHEAD DESPITE MANAGEMENT SCAREMONGERING
Despite rumours emanating from management briefs we can confirm that the scheduled strike action for this week will go ahead.

The reason for this is that despite all their claims management have still failed to return to meaningful negotiations. They have written a series of letters to the union but have failed to once make an offer of negotiations to the CWU!

We now need to be stronger and more united then ever. Royal Mail has admitted that they have massive backlogs and they have started to make very small movements. We are starting to see senior management for exactly what they are. Remember the letters telling us all that there was no more money in the pot? Conveniently they have just found another £23million!!

These empty promises are not enough though. Meetings will take place once again tomorrow so the possibility (although very small) remains for an 11th hour settlement. Dave Ward will be meeting with Allan Leighton tomorrow to discuss the dispute.

Full updates will be given to all members at tomorrow picket line meetings (Plymouth Mail Centre). Please make every effort to attend the meetings.

Together as a united force we have got Royal Mail on the back foot. Let’s make sure that on Thurs / Fri / Sat we as a Branch help to push home that advantage.

This dispute is far too important to risk losing on the back of promises from people we know cannot be trusted.

Thats oversimplistc but nevertheless a valid argument. Having said that if it takes our own money to increase the liklihood of a settlement then so be it.

If the increase is added to the 2.5% as a percentage increase then the initial "seed" money would be ours but the consecutive pay rises would be new money.

Glad we are standing firm and will do so until we get a settlement that is just and fair.

Don't forget that the line managers in our mail centre are currently on open book as far as o/t is concerned. Most of them at Glasgow Mail Centre are amid the rank and file sorting into the pigeon holes. It will cost RM a few bob to pay them too.
Anyhoo, since they have "borrowed" £2b from the Government can they not ask Turncoat Johnston for a bit more to cover the pay rise and pay it back later on?

also the s.i.s(strike breakers in suits)are filling there boots in our office if they had any principles this dispute may have been settled by now.
