- if on holiday do they owe you a day for 1st jan( non service day ?)

Sat 1st Jan will be a non-service day,it IS NOT a bank holiday /if it's your rest day you do not get it back.
Which would include annual leave as well.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

If your on sick over the christmas/new year do all days get included, including bank holidays and non saervice days in the attendance procedure??

Yes...you are sick from the moment you tell them you're sick until the moment you tell them you're not...inclusive of public holidays,days off or annual leave.

Sorry to hijack the thread but does anyone know how the day in lieu is given? Is it just added to your annual leave days?

A public holiday that falls during annual leave is usually credited to that years annual leave entitlement.
A public holiday that falls during your day off is usually credited to the following years annual leave entitlement.

Which is why if it is your long weekend and intend returning to work on Tuesday, you tell them on Friday so the Saturday/Monday don't count.
In some cases those days can be the difference between dismissal or not.

They should add it to your leave, don't take there word for it ask for a print off of your annual leave and it should show on the right hand side, they sometimes forget :left:

you should get it in england as well, if your day off was mon 3rd jan, they should owe you a day, mon 3rd jan WAS a uk bank holiday.
