Although i'm based in a MC,i read this story with some alarm today in "The voice".Bob Gibson(CWU ass sec) discribed evening delivery as "very positive news"!!.The story also mentioned that the trial areas could be extended "right across the M25 area,and into other urban areas.

although I don't mind doing it at christmas so people get there presents, I wouldn't fancy it all year, but it does work, you find most people are in and end up bringing few parcels back.

They are also in at 7 in the morning till 8.45 ish when they go to school/work, you could get halfyour round done in that time if we went back to 4.45 starts.
obviously cwu would back evening work was it not cwu who gave away our shift allowances to enable them to do this who should our union subs go to cwu or rm not much difference is there
I would only back it as long as it kept the collection & distribution drivers in a full time job and never ever became a requirement for the delivery staff, but i suppose it would be the first step in a very slippery slope
I've seen the same scenario once before, if we thought 2010 etc was bad, wait until the privatisation talks get going..................the likes of the Broadway Stars are going to sell your soul to the devil as long as they can sit at the table and then tell you it's for your own good.

Let,s hope the brains can find a happy medium like going back to the early delivery when we were out the office at 07:00 then you caught ppl before they went to work or school
