No. 343/07 Ref 60000 Date: 16th April 2007
TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS
Dear Colleague
ROYAL MAIL LETTER’S PAY 2007
At last Friday’s meeting Royal Mail and CWU explored if it was possible to make progress in negotiations with different approaches. The meeting concluded with Royal Mail saying they still needed more time to put together a revised offer.
Given the seriousness of the situation the attached letter has been sent direct to local reps with full details of Royal Mail’s rejected closed offer. The full details have been published because in some areas the content of the closed offer emerged in Royal Mail’s recent WTLL Sessions.
It is important Branches check that our local representatives have received a copy of the letter over the next couple of days and that CWU members are advised of the overall situation.
The letter also explains the latest situation with the existing Efficiency Scheme. Royal Mail have now stated that 92p is due to be consolidated from the 2nd and 3rd Quarters and the previous lump sums.
The Postal Executive still believe that more money is owed – but we have agreed there is no point in delaying the consolidation of the amount Royal Mail now say is due.
The Postal Executive have now agreed the Joint Audit Process and an advanced copy of the forms are attached to the local reps letter.
Please advise our members that the Union will ensure that the Joint Audit will determine the final amount of money owed to CWU members.
Further information on how the audit will be undertaken and the figure work involved in the latest consolidation will be sent out in the very near future, along with details of when the payment is due.
We can also advise that a further pay meeting has been arranged for later this week. A further report will be issued in due course.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)
