Career Break

When I joined about a year ago I remember reading about a Royal Mail career break option. Does anyone know how long you have to have been employed by Royal Mail to take advantage of this? How long can you take?

Anyone done it? What did you do?

hey, first time poster! i did this end of 2008 very simple process in my office any way. told my line manager he downloaded forms off the royal mail intranet site no guarantee of getting job back in same office even same hours as before but i came back christmas 09 and got my job back no problem just phone your line manager few months before you want to return to work. could be a lot more difficult now especially if were privitised by time you come back! i went on a working holiday to australia working on farms etc great time.

You have to be employed by RM for 2 years, and you can take up to 3 years off as a Career Break.

You want to leave and come back?!

I want to go traveling, and it would be nice to have the luxury of knowing when I come back that I'll have a guaranteed job. Shame I have to have been with RM for two years though, as I was planning to leave in 3 months time and have only been employed by RM for just over a year.

I want to travel the states mainly, although want to do Thailand, Philippines, and some other places.
