Shared Vans ??????

Just wondered if anyone has heard any news on this shared van thing. We've more or less been told it's not going to happen now.

h@s issues with bag over the shoulder etc. you will also get a trolly to push/pull as well as a shared van dont matter how much longer it will take.its for your own good.rem the drivers got his her trolly as well.

I'm doing the new duties in my office now it's a complete disaster everyday we are bringing mail back, rounds too long, badly planned and managers not very helpful. We were told it wouldn't happen until January but brought in early even though the sorting machines weren't ready! All I can say is prepare your backsides for a spanking as you will be on your knees and tearing your hairout with frustration when it happens.

yes watch out! we've had ours since 8th november and needless to say its failed. the snow just added to the problem, 5+ hours walks!! and if you cut off, well get ready!! it will come in, too much money and too many egos involved for it not to.

The only thing I disagree with you about, is your suggestion of using H&S to slow things down. We have enough problems, with people being harrassed by Managers for insisting on putting their safety first. Without encouraging people to abuse the system to make a point!

Now it is possible that I misunderstood your post. And that you were merely making the point, that if you refused to cut corners (as the Managers are encouraging people to do! ) you'd be slower than those who agree to take chances. In which case I apologise. However. If I was right about what you meant. Then you need to seriously re-think your ideas, before you make things even worse than they already are, for those who don't want to put their health at risk, for the sake of "making things work".

with this park and loop crap when u go out with someone in a van do you still have a walk each,becuase i dont really want people picking certain streets to deliver on my duty.think ive been conned this xmas a reserve who has hardly done my round has had plenty of fivers of customers when they was meant for the regular postie ie ME.surly on this park and loop you can go out in a van and then both go off in different directions to your own duty and afterwards you go both use the van to deliver large packets/parcels etc.someone outhere have any more info.

No the loops are designed in 40-60min bursts then back to the van.
If you went off to do your delivery how would you take the entire delivery with you.
Once the planners get started you won't even recognise "your duty" anyway.

But we are going to have a revision. Is this happening in other offices anywhere else.

From what I've heard they are expecting 70% of us to leave, thus allowing them to bring in casual contracts. The public should be informed.
