Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
After reading numerous posts on here about overtime not being paid I am beginning to wonder if there is some sort of motive for this.I for one have had one correct payslip in two months. How can it be that every office is having the same problem, what is the reason for this.Someone must know why it's happening because it can't be just put down to mistakes,I feel that they are taking the piss and am ready to tell them to stick o/t up there choccy starfish.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
The general impression i have got is that all the managers are paid bonuses when they keep within their OT targets. These targets seem to be unrealistic for the amount of work that needs to be done so hours are shaved off our pay to keep those further up the chain happy. So basically we are shafted so that managers get bonuses for 'saving' (stealing) money!I am beginning to wonder if there is some sort of motive for this.

Re: Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
I made sure I kept a note of every minute I worked over and it's a good job to because last weeks was an hour short. Straight in to the DOM with my payslip and notes and got it added to this weeks.
I'm sure there's plenty of others who didn't bother either checking or chasing up missing hours though, and on the same subject most of the recent starters didn't even know they could claim their lunch if they worked through it.

Re: Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
In a previous job, i once had to phone up my manager after every payslip for 8 months before i got paid for the shift i didnt do
Every fortnight he'd say he'll sort it for the next payday.
In this job, if i'm ever underpaid its fixed by the following week. Luck of the draw with d.o.m. I always keep a record of what i do & check if i've been paid it

Re: Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
why do you think RM did away with dockets, because they know not everyone will keep a record of the o/t they've done,i used to do 10-20 hours o/t a week until the gaffer tried to do me out of 30 mins, never done any since,(no matter how much they beg)no worse off,(if you haven't got it you can't spend it)and my home and social life have improved 100%,also stress levels have been reduced to zero, try it,you know it makes sense.

Re: Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
Its done on purpose, that that there is no doubt IMHO. People need to take it to an Employment tribunal (its free and you claim for "unlawful deductions")
An ET is not just for unfair dismissal. You can put an ET claim in even if you are still employed ( not many people are aware of this fact)
You must keep dated records, times and dates ect
Be aware RM may be very vindictive after an ET application, care of your line manger
Before you take it to an ET you will have to normally taken it down the internal grievance procedure first.

Re: Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
Every bit of o/t I have ever done is noted in my cwu diary so I always have a record. If I dont get paid then I will not do o/t again .Luckily I have a decent line manager,so I dont expect the situation to arise deliberately, but I do believe managers are under pressure not to pay.

Re: Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
I checked my pay slips for the last three weeks after reading about this. Pay dated the 17th has no o/t that I incurred from extended deliveries, but does have my day off and early morning prep o/t in it. Same for the few weeks before too.
Thats a lot of hours and i didn't even bloody notice. Going to start recording my own hours now :|

Re: Incorrect overtime payments across the board.
No, the only OT which may be affected is that done on christmas eve. This because it needs to be sent off earlier than normal due to the bank holidays.Wessex wrote:I think at xmas, o/t is payed a week later than usual.I'm sure someone/somewhere on this site will have the detailsBazman wrote:I checked my pay slips for the last three weeks after reading about this.
