I know I am. i've really taken a dislike to the job recently. I've never felt as tired as I do now as I never get 2 days off together to recover. d2d junk is getting to me and to top it off, I've developed rock hard skin on both my big toes, physical damage caused by all the milage I cover. heres hoping 2011 brings wealth and of course, a new job.....

soz for the rant, I just remembered I have to go to the hell hole in 8 hours.....

Had enough a long time ago but the recession hasnt exactly made it easy to find anything else. Maybe we are lucky to have a job at Royal Mail?

My dislike of the job is cyclical. I'll go through a period of a few weeks where I can't stand it, swearing to myself that I'm going to get out, then the mist lifts and i think it's an alright job for a few weeks before it all starts over again.

Exactly ! 25 years of computer software development experience counted for Jack when I was made redundant this time last year.

It's a big bad world out there - and it can only get worse under ConDem ...

Yip--If I wasn't so near to retiring age, I'd be out like a shot! A good job gone wrong, and it's not going to get any better. Strangely, there may seem to be no jobs out there, but most of those who do leave, usually end up with something else, and look a lot better for it!

Yes, I've been looking for a while but can't get a new job while off sick and having the sick leave won't exactly make it easy to find another job.

Its a wonderful idea but in this climate I feel it would be suicidal to change jobs even if you found a decent one. A mate of my partner swapped jobs in August... more money and better conditions....he received his redundancy notice mid-november! at the very least he reckons he'll be unemployed till March time. His old job is chugging along.

I feel too knackered to bother looking some days, and I've given up over Christmas, but yes, in general I do apply for a few jobs here and there with a genuine intent of getting them. However, no luck so far. I sometimes feel as if I would be better suited to just quitting and dedicating all my time to finding another job. But I'm not completely stupid . . . yet.

If you don't mind me asking what sort of jobs are you applying for? RM sucks most of the time BUT theres a lot worse out there!

Mostly stuff that offers some kind of training; trainee legal secretaries, trainee accountants amongst other things. I appreciate that these jobs are unlikely to be better, and even on full-time hours I'd probably only be earning £20 or £30 more a week, but the reality is that this job is one that will eventually wear me down in a very real, physical sense, and given the choice between it and a more mundane job that may be worse, I would choose the latter. For what it's worth I don't particularly like any of the jobs I've ever had, and I'm sure many feel the same. Being a postman is probably the best of the lot but it's also the most draining and I'd happily strike a balance somewhere between the two. Not that it matters as I've had absolutely no success yet so this is all about hypotheticals!

Ive been applying for a new job for around a year but with the economy the way it is and my advancing years I have not had one interview.To be honest I would have left RM some time ago but stayed to see what would happen.Each week now I dread the thought of going to work and next year it will get worse with p and l .If something turns up Im off.
