What has changed since "2010 and Beyond"

Post by welshy808 »

As a follow up to my post about how your Area voted for the last Deal I thought I'd ask

What has changed since "2010 and Beyond" in your Area?

I'll start with Gwent.

The Area Rep and Branch Secretary who recommended a "yes" vote have gone.
Though Gwent did vote NO
We have a new Area Rep and Branch Secretary.

If The rest of the country feel so bad about the deal, perhaps some more that recommended yes may not be long about.

The only change for me is more weight on the shoulder. Instead of doing 3 door to doors 5 days a week, we do 5 door to doors six days a week. No other changes at all.

You'd think that the ways to take the weight OFF the shoulder would be in place before actually giving us more to carry, but oh no, not at Royal Mail

more sick
more people wanting evr
still better than working in tescos.
and poor communication from head office.
floor managers knowing their jobs will soon be gone.
more casuals and part timers and if a full timer leaves position goes casual, fewer people on ips.

How do you quantify that?
We had a new starter finish last week, given proper training by the rep etc. the rep said to me "if you started now, would you stick it?" had to answer NO. but I imagine I could put up with Tesco, I may be wrong but they would have to be a seriously bad employer to be worse than Royal Mail.

My main point to this thread though, was what has happened in your area to change the union, or are you happy with them?

Why should you or anybody else be taking more weight on ones shoulder. The whole idea behind moderisation was to make the job easier by not carrying weight on the shoulder and using the tools which are given to you.

Thats why we have 80 trolleys in our office but none are getting used right now because of the snow...and it will be the same after all the snow has gone. This shouldn't be the case!

If your not using the tools then you could go down the conduct code...but personally i don't think the doms would care as long as you can finish the job asap.

That's where your H&S rep should step in....if you have one....if you don't,try to get one...they are worth their weight in gold if they know what they are doing. :whistle
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
