Have had a look and havent seen anything on here . Havent seen anything on the news either . Heres what we were told Thursday morning .

1st class is goin up by 5p and 2nd class by 4p . I thought this would be a big deal but theres nothing mentioned anywhere about it .

Look at what they charge in Europe or any other first world nation.... customers here get a complete bargain even at the new prices!

Was looking at a letter sent to a house on my walk from India and the postal frank said "25Rs" or about 20p yet their next door neighbour had the same sized mail sent from 20 miles up the road and it cost nearly double! maybe that needs to be looked at!

25Ru is 35p - and I have just checked their website 25Ru is surface mail and that could take literally months.

In the space of a year (ish) the price of a second class stamp has gone up to the old price of a first.

A few years back some daft bint wrote into our local paper saying everyone should go and stockpile stamps now before the prices went up. And, if they got the ones with 1st or 2nd on them, rather than a value, they were still valid for use after the price rise! They also accused RM of being sneaky by announcing the price rises before Xmas when everyone was too busy to notice.

I replied basically saying that I couldn't wait for the day when all I had to worry about was the price of a stamp. If I bought 100 of them, I'd have saved myself £3, which isn't even enough to buy a pint of beer nowadays. The reason no one noticed the price rise announcement, is because people have better things to worry about than whether the letters that they rarely send are going to cost them 3p more. Given that the average household spends less than 50p a week posting items, it's not going to make a huge dent in people's pockets. Basically, get a life.

It was a bit more eloquent than that, but it got the point across.

I bow to your superior knowledge... but its still a bit of an eye opener! my Indian Uncle says that surface is 99% within 6 weeks.

Postcomm said in November that it was "minded to" accept a Royal Mail proposal to increase access prices at this level in May 2011. Access mail last year was loss-making for Royal Mail with losses averaging 2.5p for every item of access mail delivered by Royal Mail’s postmen and women. More than 45% of all letters delivered by Royal Mail are now handled by a rival company under access arrangements.

1990 - 1st 22p, 2nd 17p
2000 - 1st 27p, 2nd 19p
2010 - 1st 41p, 2nd 32p
Our pay hasn't increased like that over the last ten years.

Ever get any of those parcels from India that are bound up in a sort of cloth ?and sealed with wax.Always wondered if its some sort of Mary Juanna.
