Starting on a fixed term contract and need help

Hi there, i just got offered a job its 3 months fixed term contract 20 hours per week 10am - 2pm . I have heard this is doing a walking shift any ideas?? will the mail be sorted for me coming in what all should i expect ? I go on monday for my induction then start on tuesday so i will be starting really close to xmas wonder will i be put in at the deep end. I will like to hear your views on it all and what should i wear because its only a 3 month contract i wont be getting any uniform

wear good outdoor clothing, made up of layers to keep you warm but too warm your going to be walking with weight so you'll heat up and sweat. A good raincoat and gloves, a good pair of walking boots or shoes if you've no boots especially for this weather. Mail should be ready for you but i doubt it, we all very busy and yes this will be the deep end. I started at Xmas as well a few years ago all i can say is if you survive this week everything else is a walk in the park!! Goodluck! Just keep thinking Xmas day is saturday you can sleep then.

If it's the same as my place your mail won't be thrown in apart from Tuesdays.

Welcome and good luck! I do a 9.00-3.00 and u will be lucky if u have anywhere near half of the walk thrown in for you. If you don't mind doing o/time fair enough, if you need to stick to your contracted hours, u will struggle to complete your walk imo. Things will get easier and you will get quicker as you get used to the frame/procedures etc. You need at least 3-4 hours for a (new)walk, so if you have a break, possibly 15/20 mins and some travel time to and from your walk.....I guess you will have 3.5 hours max IF your frame is prepped and bagged up, which in my short time here, is very doubtful.

Maybe you will be doing other duties or a van share walk which could take about 2 hours depending on duty.

A good £15 coat from the market, bright yellow/waterproof and not too hot. Also got some £10 work trouser with lots of pockets for ur form lefts, signed for, pens, polos!! etc ( any decent market stool for work equipment)
