RM suspend deliveries due to severe weather !!!

Just received phone call from line manager telling me its too dangerous to come into work due to 6" of snow falling over night, all main roads are white. He is sending all other postmen who have turned up for work home. All deliveries and collections today are suspended. North Wales region.

my day off today but in the NE area its pretty bad for black ice. no doubt the guys will be told something like "try your best but be careful......".

I've got a friend in Blaenau Ffestiniog who reckons it's about 2-3 foot deep in places there

foot deep and 6 inches in most places here. walkable... just been for a walk to the town... no problem

It must've been a Northern Ireland thing because we are in the same boat .

We went in today did some ISS for a couple of hours and then got sent home as the conditions were getting worse. I was back home by 9:15 AM. Probably pay tomorrow tho (weather depending )

I'm amazed RM are suspending deliveries again tbh. Surely with the backlog of mail it's only going to take a couple of days of non-delivery now and you won't get everything out for Christmas?

I would have thought their stance on it now would be 'out you go but remember, your safety comes first'

Its first time down here we haven't been out since the bad weather has started, so to be honest we will only be a day behind regarding the delivery side. Processing were still working while I was there.

All the buses and taxis stopped running, the roads here were really bad and side streets inpassable. Loads of hills in Wales see!

That's actually the best thing that could happen from RM's point of view. They'd love a load more snow and disruption, then they can say 'it's not our fault'
