A Royal Mail manager who earned £36,000 a year could be sent to prison after being found guilty of stealing £45 from a cash box.
Shrewsbury Magistrates Court heard that Ronald Kings, of Eskdale Road, Shrewsbury, had been suspended following an internal investigation at the Shrewsbury sorting office.
An undercover operation revealed an incident which led to Kings being charged with three counts of theft.
Yesterday, Kings, who was said to earn about £36,000 plus perks, was found guilty of stealing £10, £15 and £20 on July 22, 29 and August 1 last year.
Magistrates said there had been a breach of trust towards Royal Mail as well as the general public and Kings had committed the offences intentionally.
Chairman of the magistrates Mrs Diana Foster said: “This is a very serious matter and custody is a serious option.â€
