Dangerously placed customer christmas decorations

I am finding it a nightmare around the larger posh houses on my round as they have thin dark coloured low voltage cables laid arross their drives powering all sorts of decorations from simple christmas lights to moving wire frame animals. I tripped on two wires today, the second time dragging a near life size santa down from a tree.

While iam moaning is it just me that keeps nearly poking my eye out from christmas wreaths hung on street doors whilst iam trying to get the letters through the box

totally agree, i dont mind xmas decs they look great but the same as hanging baskets , more thought needs to be used by houseowners, an accident waiting to happen,

It just seems safety goes right out of the window and lets lay as many trip wires as we can I have got one or two older customers who have placed some wood or door mats over the wires but he younger families dont care. Its all about showing off and beating the house over the road.

Yeah, they even have the wires coming out of the letter boxes and we are supposed to be able to get the mail through.

I think it is very considerate of all these people to put up all these lights so the poor beleagured postie, still out at 7 o'clock at night, can read the addresses on the envelopes

Now if they could just leave them up until the middle of March....

Most have powerful security flood lights (must be 1000w+) and i remember from the good olde days going out before sun up reading the letters with a crap RM torch then all of a sudden WHAMP WHAMP instant daylight to deliver by but then your blind for 5 mins

Yes I've seen this too, and sometimes it looks like it is mains voltage cable which would be serious shock hazard if the metal letterbox edge was a bit sharp and cut through to the live wires. I mentioned it to one of the householders who had done this last year and they just looked at me like I was stupid, but I reckon its a serious issue. I mentioned it to DOM and he kind of agreed with me and said he'd ask the H&S people about it but I never heard any more.
