Where's all the mail??

Unbelievably quiet today compared to yesterday! Something isn't quite right! For example, yesterday for one street of 49 houses, I had 3 big bundles and about 9 packets ( plus 6 big parcels that I did in the van after), today, no pouch bag needed, just one packet and about 30 letters!
Another street of 27 houses, only delivered to about 12 houses.
Yesterdays finish time 16.30, today I managed to drag it out and sign out at 13.45, so not to lose my overtime booked from yesterday as the dim says we'll have to take off what you gain from today against what you booked yesterday. I couldn't stay out any longer today as it would have been way to obvious!
I'd say today was lighter than a really quiet summers tuesday!!

Sh*t will probably hit the fan tomorrow and we'll all be screwed!! :shock:

Lucky you, we where hit worse today than yesterday and I don't see it getting any easier :sad:

Same at our office, lightest Tuesday in months - half a packet bag, half(!) a box of flats, 2 boxes of sequenced and about half a box of loose. I'm dreading tomorrow :neutral:

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Here we go again, another DIM misinforming staff! Each day's hours are completely independent from any other day you will work at Royal Mail. If your contract finish time is 1400 and you finish at 1415 one day but 1345 the next, you are entitled to 15 minutes of extended delivery, these two days cannot be "balanced out" as finishing at your contract time each day. :arrrghhh

Thankyou both, but what can I back this up with? I mean, I'm just a humble postman and my dim is a erm..manager!! What he say's goes!! I did laugh at him and say 'bollocks to that'!
What can I say to him?

Our area rep.(who has since disappeared)agreed with the DOM and says it's just "working the hours your paid for" so good luck with that one,even though it means some people don't have to work 40hours,and the manager doesn't have to actually allign duties(do any bloody work)if one person goes over,he can't claim until the end of the week! :roll:

had a couple of staff whove bin there bout a year ,both never knew you could claim overtime if past youre hours,,as well as a few other things they were never told! what a place!

Ours too, both the office rep and area reps are cosy with management on the issue of 'banking hours'.

What makes it complete BS is that actual banking of hours was trialled in my office last year over the summer, by the end of the 16 week period they owed staff more hours in total than staff owed them, so it quietly disappeared - only to reappear as 'swings and roundabouts' :roll:

It doesn't bother me as I dont go over anyway, but there are people of my office working over for free.I've tried to tell them to either claim or cut off but they won't.

Back on topic, today was ridiculous. The lightest day of the year for me, 5 bundles for 600 houses and half a packet bag. I had 5 times that amount of mail yesterday.

If you don't return to the office how does he decide how much you owe...is he psychic? :left:
If you do return to the office...just stay until your finishing time...it's up to them to find you work.
If your manager sends you home that's his decision and we don't do clawback...do we? :left:

Another quiet one for me as well... Packets seem to steadily coming in though but not obscene amounts just above normal :hmmmm

Probably the same place my parcel is - the national distribution centre (wherever that is) and has been since the 6th according to track and trace. What is the point of special delivery :arrrghhh

My walk swamped today, took 50 minutes of delivery off me and I still had to book an hour, loads of packets. The new walks are far too long, something needs to be done. :d'oh!

im doing nightshift thanks to the backlog and the driver from the mail centre (darlington) told us they have no spare yorks he wanted to empty all our yorks which have p739s in and take them back that would have pleased our dom no end,he relented and left them.
total shambles as fast as we are emptying packet yorks up comes more.some duties have 6 full packet bags at there fittings now so its only going to get worse. :sad:
