Postal Department Review – Union Reform

Please find attached to this LTB the Postal Department Review Document and associated recommendations agreed by the Postal Executive last week.

The attached documentation is set out in the following appendices:

The content of the Postal Review document and the decisions of the Postal Executive are important developments that provide a platform for constructive reform across the Union.

The decisions of the Postal Executive also confirm that internal reform should first and foremost be about deciding what type of union we want to be and that this in turn will shape a more productive debate over the Unions finances.

In agreeing the document the Postal Executive recognise that we can not make positive reforms in isolation to the rest of the organisation. Therefore part 3 of the document addresses how we should move forward the wider union debate.

The Postal Executive are keen to fully involve Postal Branches and Representatives in the evolving process of change. We invite the views of branches on the document, its recommendations and the strategic direction we have set out. We are also determined to ensure that there is ample opportunity for us to debate these issues in the New Year and subsequently at Annual Conference.
