Is it illegal to work for Royal Mail and DHL

I am wondering if anyone can tell me if it breaks your contract to work for both Royal Mail and also do some part time delivery work?

There is no law stopping you having a second job,but there is regarding how long you can drive in a day and also having a break between shifts.
Also if you have a second job and you drive for RM and your new job you have to inform RM.
Us drivers have to fill out a form every year.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I was doing dhl/TNT stuff on the agency driving hgvs on my day off. I got found out by my dim who was a nasty freak of a human , and he had a little talk with me about a confict of interests etc. I was asked if that's the word to stop. I left royal mail instead. Hoe that helps.

A friend of mine years ago, before the madness insued used to do his normal RM job, and then sort pkts for TNT in the early evening till about 9pm.
What do RM expect, it might be your "main" job but it doesn't pay enough. That is why people have to get second, even third jobs just to make a living, the only problem being our way of working is making this increasingly more difficult.

It will be a conflict of intrest if it ever gets found out and acted upon by a zealous dum dim dom as both the 'jobs' are of the same ilk :wink:

You are allowed to have a second job as long as it doesn't affect your employment with RM.
But you are not allowed to work for a competitor.
Though I recall Stormproof saying that a TNT employee worked on Saturdays for RM at her DO.
