what is the end point of this park n loop ,why change things? is it just a case of running the r mail into the ground then selling off ? we got told the park n loops going well last week ,,weve no started ours yet,,,, From what im hearing its a disaster ,ive yet to meet anyone whos voted for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are supposed to be starting it soon as well, it's gonna fail big time. The walks on the loops have all been made bigger and most of them were close to impossible to do in 3.5 hours or cutting it very fine. It was runners who would make it work :/. As for where we park the vans on the map and do the loops that's wonderful except the roads are all packed with parked cars so you won't be able to park the vans anywhere near the spots pointed out by the people who planed this.

Like you said I think this is being done with the purpose of running RM into the ground so it can be sold off, why else would they force in a system that clearly isn't workable? Even the managers here know this isn't going to work but the planners with their laptops and googlemaps up in Sheffield or wherever clearly know better.

They will get all the drivers because people with little or no seniority will see the possibility of "bumping up" their seniority by agreeing to drive.
And how solid will the "we won't drive " brigade will be when they see the better rounds going, or one of their number being sent to a different office?

Park and loop is being introduced because the profile of the mail is changing. More packets and less letters mean pouch over the shoulder is not an efficient way to work.(If it ever was)
Park and loop isn't a bad idea, the way it has been implemented has been.

We aren't delivery less letters tho! Just less has a RM logo/stamp on it and a crap load more of it is DSA. All this rubbish about people posting less and using text/email is complete bollocks. People have been texting and sending emails for the last 10 years and people never sent loads of letters in the first place it was always companies and still is. If letters are going down why can I no longer fit all the bundles of mech mail on my frame in the morning? I used to be able to but there are so many now that my frame isn't long enough.

I'm sick and tired of being told mail volumes are dropping it's f***ing bullshit.

They don't even own cheque books.
How many people write to Amazon with their order and an accompanying cheque?

I still get a bank statement through the post every month
I still get 2 credit card statements through the post every month
I still get a phone bill through the post every month
I still get my utility bills/statements through the post every month
In get a mountain of crap every week I didn't use to get from various groups or associate companies connected to who I bank/shop with.

I pay everything by direct debit but I still want a paper statement/bill for my own records as has been said if it's online I don't actually have it and it can be lost by someone else. I send Christmas cards to all my relatives and friends who live out of town. Just like my parents did, an email with "Merry Christmas" in it wouldn't go down well which is why I and the majority of people send a card through the post to people that aren't local enough to give it to them by hand.

Perhaps people are starting to buy their cards from places Wilko or other budget stores like I do because it's cheaper, Hallmark cards are usually £2.00 or more where as they are 99p in Wilko and look just as nice.

I get a council tax statement once a year through the post also paid by direct debit. My bank statement is online but I still opt for a paper statement for my own file at home. As I said I pay them all by direct debit but I still get a paper statement/bill for my own records. The option is there to go paperless with some like B.T. for example but I choose not to, just because it's paid by direct debit doesn't mean you don't get a bill.

What about the people that don't pay by direct debit or can't because they don't have a bank account/are crap at managing their finances?

Then there's the ton of crap I get each week that I mentioned. I never used to get this but the more I've shopped online the more I seem to get it. Here's a prediction of my own, as more people shop online there will be more and more of this s**t getting sent out to household across the country.

I didn't even know Oxfam sold Christmas cards? Also where's the evidence that a potential drop in sales of these cards is down to people not sending them? How do you know people are not going to shopping elsewhere somewhere cheaper to save money? I'm not saying just because I never knew they sold cards everyone else probably didn't know either but chances are a fair few had no idea Oxfam sold cards, how might that have an effect on sales?
