Lightweight. They only had a few bundles back then.
No d2bins, Amazon packets, light bulbs, did they even have recordeds in the 60's????

One old guy told me though he used to deliver rabbits tied with a bit of string and a stamp on the foot. Lol.

People here laugh but the number of people that ask me if there are any jobs going at RM is staggering.... and before you say anything its not just those desperate for a job/wage!

Most of the general public do see the job and post people as Postman Pat's.

They probably think we only do one bag a day as well. 6 years ago a friend talk about the job and thought it sound easy and I could do it. What I didn't expect it to be very tough and hard work.

What if you could jump into a time machine and do a round back in the 1960's, how good would that be ? No mailsort or d2d's just plain old simple letters and the odd parcel tied up with string. I can remember the late 1980,s and our rounds are 3 times longer now.

i think when you look back at the job how it used to be it really was a good job say ten plus years ago but now it is hard work but i think its easier in some ways if you not be in the job long because you dont know about how good it was god knows what it will be like in ten more years time i have still got 22 years to go

In my office there is an eastern European who thinks being a postman is one of the toughest jobs he's had. He seems to think that over here he would be given an easy ride, but the truth of the matter is he cant wait to go back.

same as when i started,i look at it as being paid to keep fit,i would be a right lard arse without this job,all the other sh1te just washes over me,do my job,work to my time,kick off now & again,way better then stuck in an office
