me and a colleague have 3 lots in from last wednesday.been told by manager to deliver them when we start delivering again .we have 4 lots this week so tomorrow we will have a total of 7 lots to deliver,we have 4 days worth of letters packets parcels,the job lot really.our frames are OVER FLOWING.offered to work sunday to releive the back log and becuase i dont want to be finishing at tea time this week management said no to sunday.if we are not working in this terrible snow and ice why should we work after 3.30pm when its dark,i wont be stuff them.we are a small office with only 34 duties ,in 15 years in the job have never seen such a big back log . H E L P .

Work to your time, frak the rest of it. If the manager instructs you to deliver seven lots of door to doors then so be it - make sure you painstakingly arrange them and place/force/manipulate/contort them into your frame in the morning, at 1/6th per day, then inform your manager in the presence of a witness (preferably a number of witnesses in my experience) that you can only do 'x amount' of your walk before allowing him to deal with the problem. Remember, s/he is paid considerably more than you to deal with such problems, your job is to work your contracted hours, no more. Don't go out of your way for the company, don't concern yourself with the backlog. It's not your problem if it never gets delivered - that is certainly what I shall be saying should anyone make the mistake of trying to worm their way into my thought processes when I arrive at work tomorrow morning. I'm willing to take some measure of overtime should it be offered because I don't mind the extra money, but I have been reliably informed that our office hopes to clear the backlog within the CONTRACTED HOURS of our footmen (postmen).
