I think we all know that revisions up and down the country are failing badly. But why is this?

Is it due to poor organistional skills from the management?

Maybe it's geo route setting out unrealistic targets and the settings need to be changed?

Is park & loop feasible and finacially worth it?

and why after all the revisions are done in an office, managers are going back to the drawing board and asking us posties to sort this mess out, when they should of asked right at the beginning.

Park and Loop is a good idea in theory, the only trouble is they are making the duties too long and are ballsing it up, the managers are useless they have no idea

For the record over 500 delivery revisions have now been deployed. Out of those 500 delivery revisons no one knows if they are all failing or all working. Believe or not there is no tracking of the revisons deployment except the money.

In my view I have personally said this is unacceptable there should be some kind of tracking record , not only are they working , what attendances have been introduced , learning lessons from delivery methods , Walk sequencing revisons , geo route and iwt self starter revisons.

Your wrong to assume all of the revisons are not working , however there area number which are failing , no one on here or in the whole of the industry can say if all those failing revisons have the same problems.


For example TBT in an early thread listed a number of revisons which he believed were failing and listed Rayleigh but I have been told that is not the case by people on the ground, so without either Royal Mail and CWU reviewing the offices which have thuse far gone in then how does anyone know if they are failing ?

By the way I have criticised to their faces both Royal Mail and the CWU at national level for this lack of information. In my opinion the National Deployment Group is spending to much of their time fire fighting over problems over mail centres , and other issues like World Class mail"s , Fixed term contracts and the merging of delivery offices without getting direct information on how offices are deploying the revisons and if quality is being maintained and the principles of the agreement being upheld.

I listed the Rayleigh office. I had a PM from somebody who said they work there and they said it was failing. I've no reason not to believe them

What went wrong.......................the traffic figures, we believed they were incorrect and it is proving to be the case but the Area and Div Rep are still pressing for the revision to be signed off so that the money can be paid...................which in no way proves the revision is working only that the money has been paid.

nwpostie they may be paying overtime left right and centre but to a lot less staff, you do the maths, and you can talk all you want about this that and the next but bottom line is money

RM are so short sighted they only wanted to see how much money potentially they could save with these revisions, and ultimately getting rid of driving duties completely in favour of CDVs'.
However, they did not take into account all the overtime they are having to pay out in people working nights, Sundays, ext delivery, earlies, etc just to make these revisions work, which they still aren't by all accounts. These so called revisions weren't supposed to be about savings within offices anyway, and if not, why were they introduced in the first place? We could still be more efficient etc using the WSMs under the old way of working just using the tools available for their real purpose and not unrealistic targets due to financial gain.

We are failing and havent had the revision yet...God help my office when they bring it in. Some walks have gone from 600 to over 1000 drops...

Our office is failing also, and we haven't had our revision yet either. This is the knock on effect of the offices that have. Packets have gone through the roof for some reason and we're not able to deal with them and so baglogged, with manager b&h you to take packets you wouldn't take under normal circumstances.

What I fail to understand is that these new delivery systems were tried and tested in several DOs some time ago, meaning in excess of 1 year. The idea of trying and testing a system is to iron out all the flaws before you impose this system across the network. A bit like a new aircraft will go through rigorous testing using specialist pilots before the Civil Aviation Authority will allow them to carry passengers. God help the travelling public if they ever recruit and utilise the systems that this current management at Royal Mail have supposedly tried & tested.

According to our DOM, park and loop is based on summer mail volumes, and it is'nt expected to work at this time of year!!!
