Ridiculous times for prepping walks

Every week we have figures that go up showing how long it should take to prep a delivery (inc door2doors), and tie up ready to go out. Some of these figures are laughable. 48 mins to do it all on a 300 call rural delivery with 4 lots of d2d's. The management say these figures are agreed nationally by the CWU. If this is true then the CWU needs to take a hard look at itself. How can we get any revision done fairly if these figures are used.

My understanding is that wheras the tool (IWT) is agreed, the data variables are not.

Your having a laugh clash, just on D2D's that would be about 15mins.

4 D2D contracts = 11 minutes/day per 500 delivery points
So for 300 delivery points = 3/5 of 11 minutes - approx 7 minutes.
I am not sure where you get your 15 minutes from.

If the rest of the walk is 400 items, with hardly any dead letters and only 1 redirection in a small office, then how much more time should be allocated to prepping it?
If the walk gets 1500 items/day with 60 redirections then 48 minutes is never going to be enough.

Well he does say prep and tie up in which case i agree with him the times are ridiculous.
Rurals do tend to take longer to tie up than towns and are usually prepped during IPS which means less efficient prepping and more clear down time.
They are also tied to the IPS rate of sorting.

Thats why management have been eager for a few years now at my D.O to put NON IPS rural onto a later start. 4pm last letter and majority start no later than 7am as per BT2010 means its back on the table.

Thats wrong Clash, can't remmeber all the figures of the top of my head but i know it's 24 mins for 5 contracts based on 5 D2D contracts and 500 calls so theres no way it's 11 mins for 4.

Have you ever been on any duty that you can regulary prep and tie up in 48 mins???

It wasn't anything to begin with, i'm sure you must have heard (but not listened too) the reffain do them in your own time.

From memory i think it was:
1 D2D contract 500 calls 4 mins
2 D2D contracts 500 calls 9 mins
3 D2D contracts 5oo calls 14 mins
4 D2D contracts 500 calls 20 mins
5 D2D contracts 500 calls 24 mins

That was the one right enough, which "leaked" by Royal Mail I believe in Feb, instantly jumped on by, you know who, as unagreed and disreputable BUT I am sure it reappeared later as an accepted version in about May time..................it was remarked on at the time as being a cop out.....still what wasn't under this agreement.

The total time required will have an adverse impact on opportunities to absorb mail.

So if your 16% is say on a walk with say 600 dp's it will be higher than the average RM say is 500 dp's.

So on a 500 dp walk it's 83 calls and 4 mins,a 600 dp walk is 100 calls and nearly 5mins prep time for one D2D.
Based at prepping 22 a min.
