why royal mail why???

Post by fed_up_postie »

why wont royal mail announce their end of year profits??? is it because they have made a bundle and if they give us our payrise AL and AC wont get their BIG bonus and nor will the managers.......oops they already have got their bonus's thanks to us blueshirts/red t'shirts. i think we should get rid of AL and AC :lfo :cfo and cut the managers down to 1 per DO that would save RM plenty of money!!!!! what do you think? i know one thing....RM will announce their profits once we sort out all this strike buisness and it will be a shock as they will proof they had more money all the time :no no :no no

they know the public and media will slaughter them. Thats why they won't release the figures because they will lose.
But the government should make them!!! just shows doesn't it :mad

The reaction i get from workmates is "why doesn't the union force them to reveal results?"

The simple answer may not be what we Want? but it is because, Royal Mail will release these figures, when they want/or because legally they have too! As I understand it the Union can not compel Royal Mail to release these figures.

it takes time to cook the books, profits can be hidden. Take the pension fund, according to independant city analysts Standard and Poor, RM fund is one of the top five performing pension funds in the UK with assets of 18.9 billion.RM,s defecit figures are calculated on the assumption that the fund closes today,ie no further contributions,no further income on investments and all entitled are paid their pensions immediately. An unlikely scenario, but 40,000 less contributions plus 40,000 less employer contributions and, closing the scheme to new entrants will certainly help to increase the defecit. Sorry, i meant "protect the scheme and safeguard your benefits,we must act now" :Very Happy

Forgive me if I've posted something similar to this before, but the 'defecit' does not exist as yet. It's what is predicted to happen if all members currently in the scheme reach retirement age and draw a full pension. The pension scheme actuaries (number-crunchers) also make assumptions about the age people will live to and try to build a picture of the 'worst-case' scenario and potential shortfall between funds being paid-in by employees and those being paid-out to retirees.
If they do make us work longer before we can draw a full pension, chances are a lot more of us will pop our clogs a lot earlier and won't be such a drain on the bloody scheme :mad , thus solving the pension 'crisis' :no no
