D2D's to be delivered during xmas period

What ticked me off in the Courier was the prat Jon Swatton from the walk bundling centre saying about how D2D is just as important as normal mail and how "I handle them on a daily basis and it annoys me when colleagues dismiss it as junkmail" No you just bundle them up and send them out to us you muppet, try setting them in every day and delivering the poxy things to people who don't want them. You'll be singing a different tune then you smug looking fool.

It's not a surprise though, is it?
Remember the big hoola about how the union secured payment for them 52 weeks a year. Only a fool would believe we wouldn't be delivering them for the same amount of time.

It's not that big a deal, time wasted indoors prepping my share of d2d = less time on the street to finish my delivery, then it become's the managers problem.

Thats true mate but at xmas managers dont give a sh*t because of the obvious excuse of xmas mail volumes.
I have done it over many xmas's and all that happens is you just get it all to throw off and deliver the next day.
Then when you cut off again its there the next day and so on!
Catch 22 but I will still do it and do the job how it should be done, stuff em, no goodwill left at all!
Packets and tracked items will be massive this year I feel and you can gaurantee they have made no allowances for it!!!!!! Bah humbug!

weve just found out next weeks d2d,,,1 of em is a local councils news letter we deliver it once a month,,,once every 2 months (ISH) it weighs a ton so much so we used to get paid 4p an item for it pre "delivery suppliment" so that worked out at just under £30 for 1 lot,,,,,,now we get it and were alredy looking like pack mules as we leave each morning,,,,absolute stroke of genius this d2d lark LOL

Not really a problem is it ? More prep time, more drop bags ,less walk completed. Course if you're running round like a headless chicken trying to make some time then I can understand your annoyance, but remember job and finish is long gone and RM abhors a vacuum

The only real issue from D2D over Christmas is space in the RM2000 with double slots.
With D2D set to move to 6 and above after Christmas there is a real question as to whether the RM2000 is still fit for purpose.

We have been doing 5 for weeks now and been told to expect 6 over xmas pressure, no talk of waiting till jan
