We were given snow chains and snow studs the last two days in our office and a total ban on bikes came into place. The manager has organized vans to take us to our walks but unfortunately we have to walk the two to three miles back at finishing time. I rang in for a lift back only to find nobody will answer the phone. (Gimmick or what)
My feet is killing me today after doing a walk and walking back with those blasted chains on.
It alright them getting you and the mail out. But they don’t give a toss how we get back…

did you have to go back ? could you not fin on street if not i would book over timr for walking back if they take you out they should bring you back may be that the only good thing to come out of shared van will allways get a lift back

They shouldn't have guys walking back 2 or 3 miles in this weather duty time or not.
Speak to your H&S rep...if they aren't bringing you back...don't go out.
They took the bikes away...they come up with a suitable alternative.

I Was one of the Lucky ones that just finished on time because today was light and only one D2D this week, saying that its not right we are getting crapped on again, dread to think what's going to happen Friday and Saturday..

A Royal Mail Spokesman said. As a result of a 2 billion investment and modernisation, we have taken bicycles off the street, and in order to maintain the fitness of our employees we are now increasing their delivery times and leaving them on the streets to make their own way home on foot. Their will be a few teething problems whilst they get used to this new system, but by christmas their feet will be much harder and in the new year we will be able to raise their walking pace to 4 mph. This will allow us to deliver your mail much earlier in the day and we would expect all deliveries to have been completed by 6pm in the evening.

Get a bus or taxi back? I'm sure you should be able to claim it back if you get a receipt. Back in January when it snowed before and we were allowed out without the bikes, I got the bus back to the office and claimed the fare back.

I was dropped out in the van today to do half my walk then got the bus back and claimed the £1.75 back.

Got issued with spikes yesterday with a warning they brakes easily or I could have chains but they are slippy.

Spikes were good on ice ,no good on cleared areas,got back to office and 3 of spikes had broke off,Put them on again today,by the time I had got in the yard one had side had totaly broke.
