RM losing business by having to 739 everything ?
Now that we can't leave in "Safeplace" or with nominated neighbours we are losing customers. Why has RM introduced this ?

You can if it's in writing, that's what we got briefed, and why would we lose customers because of it.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The cards still have 'Safe place' and 'Designated neighbour' on them as well.

This s**t has come because of the mass amount of door stepping going on,we we're told that London's complaints had gone through the roof.

Two points:POSTMAN wrote:You can if it's in writing, that's what we got briefed, and why would we lose customers because of it.
1. I was told that even written instruction to RM is no longer valid.
2. We lose customers because they request carriers that will leave packages as instructed by them. I have 3 customers so far that have done so .

Re: RM losing business by having to 739 everything ?
Point 1 to me is wrong, well we weren't briefed that at my place tbf.baleout wrote:Two points:POSTMAN wrote:You can if it's in writing, that's what we got briefed, and why would we lose customers because of it.

Point 2 is a bit iffy and strange, most will order stuff for various reasons for instance price being a big factor, not who deliveries the stuff.

Point 1 . Well that was our brief. If customer not there, card it. NO exceptions.POSTMAN wrote:Point 1 to me is wrong, well we weren't briefed that at my place tbf.baleout wrote:Two points:POSTMAN wrote:You can if it's in writing, that's what we got briefed, and why would we lose customers because of it.

Point 2. Not iffy at all. The customers concerned are not interested in cost. They just don't want to waste their lives in queue at callers office where queue is now so much longer because of new directive.

Fair call, will look at point 1 again though when i go in as the brief is available for us to have a look at just to double check in case i've misheard him.baleout wrote:Point 1 . Would appreciate that. If I have something to use I will approach my DOM.
This new directive is just annoying a lot of my customers.
A lot of their frustration is that we have stopped doing something that we have done for ages, without informing them.

Re: RM losing business by having to 739 everything ?
Alternatively, there are those who would argue that RM is losing business by being a sh*thouse company run by morons. The p739 "problem" would be a symptom of that wider issue rather than an outright cause in its own right. I, of course, would not promote such an extreme and callous point of view.

Re: RM losing business by having to 739 everything ?
I brought up your last point with my lino after our briefing on this subject nearly three months ago... If Royal Mail are going to suspend verbal arrangements, why is it being left down to me to contact regular packet customers on my round, rather than actually including a constructive door to door from Royal Mail themselves on these policy changes (plus letting people know options such as designating neighbours for Recorded; whether Specials can have designated neighbours; should they be asking their postie on the street for mail; should they be chasing postie after a 739 ("form left" card) has been posted through the letterbox that day etc. etc.) ?baleout wrote:Would appreciate that. The crazy thing is that not one of my customers with previous verbal arrangements has bothered to write in to the depot to make things formal!
What's even more crazy is that things can be formalised by a letter, rather than sorting this out in person at the depot with suitable ID...
Let's say Fred Smith lives at 100 and Jim Jones lives at 101. Jim sends in a letter pretending to be Fred and asks for all oversize packets to be delivered to 101. Their postie has a Recorded packet for Fred at 100, but nobody answers, so he knocks on Jim's door (as formally requested by letter). Jim acually cannot stand Fred, so he opens the door to the postie and refuses to accept the recorded packet. Postie notes this on daily card and when he gets back to depot the packet is "killed off" by the cage staff.
What are the repercussions from what has happened in this hypothetic example?
What if Jim accepts the packet but then denies all knowledge to Fred, or simply refuses to hand over the item? After all, Fred did not formally request anything happens to oversize packets, it was somebody impersonating him!

Re: RM losing business by having to 739 everything ?
Why if the item is refused by designated neighbor is it killed off on return to office. If an item is refused by neighbor it should be 739'd as usual and retained. According to our DOM even writing to the office is not sufficient to allow us to leave it else where, only exception is tracked items with a safe place written on the item itself.

That's the brief we got.janitor wrote:Why if the item is refused by designated neighbor is it killed off on return to office. No exceptions apart from specific instructions on the tracked item.
