New Toys today ...

... hot on the heels of "OK you can have your new uniforms" (Monday - when will I ever wear that wide-brimmed hat ??) - they were doling out snow chains (Made in Germany) and "spikies" (Made in Germany) today - together with a brief brief on 'inclement weather and what to do/not do' - tried out the "spikies" in the snow, and was quite impressed - easy on easy off (oo-err) as well - snow chains look similarly cute - but are probably more likely to wear out my second-hand Magnums rather quickly.

Still - a step (!) in the right direction ...

i liked the spiky's as you say not bad walking on non snowed ground. i never liked the snow chains, just seems to feel uncomfortable; less flexibile, alot more slippery on dry surface and something better suited to car tyres but that's maybe me

My manager was chasing me up today to fill in my new uniform sheet but I'm dragging my heels, I don't want to say goodbye to my Harrington jackets dammit!

Same here, I'll wear my Harrington until it drops off me.

Spikies are gr8 on snow but a bit vulnerable to breaking if on normal ground. Had to get a new pair of em as a few of the spikes had broke off by the end of a shift. Definitely an improvement on the chains.

I agree my first pair broke on the first day They are good on snow but maybe weve been supplied with a budget version

Chains were fantastic I found, gripped well on both ice and snow.

been using the spikeys for a few days now on a walk that is mix of main doors long drive ways and council blocks of 6 in a stair no problems so far they seem to work/grip ok in the stairs

I wore my spikeys on Saturday, walked through the lobby of quite a posh block of flats, looked behind myself to see that I'd ruined their hardwood floor. oops.

Wore the chains on friday, ok, but i found the snow gathered on them quite abit and had to keep scuffing my shoes to get rid

You might as well staple some chickens to your feet for all the good some wire would do.................or you could tie some tennis rackets to your feet for that cartoon affect.

I have loads of farms on my rural and I always smile to myself as I have to walk inside a hotel to the reception with half a tonne
of cowsh*t on my shoes half the time
