Snow and working day off

Dunno if this is the right place, but here goes. I'm scheduled to work my day off ( it was arranged last week & tbh I could do with the docket ), but with the snow & ice I can't get to my office. Obviously I'm making my way to my closest office, but if I go in on my day off will I get paid, even though it isn't my usual office & I may not even do a full day's ( or any ) work? Should I go in & expect ( & fight for any docket ) or should I give it up as a bad job & keep my arse in bed?

To be honest i think if you are coming into do O/T then you are being brought in to cover a duty , so if you go into another office there may not be a duty to cover. I'd stay in bed

Stay in bed mate, they will not pay you. People who went in are having to fight to be paid on official work days.

Following on from this, I am scheduled to work my day off but it's looking doubtful (judging by the weather currently) that we will be out delivering again tomorrow. Can't get a taxi/cycle to work because the roads are terrible and it will take me a good hour to trudge my way in on the off chance we'll be going out. Am I within my rights to ring around 6ish to say I'm not willing to attend on the off-chance that we will be delivering? Thing is, if we're not I'll just end up throwing what little mail there is and won't get paid the full 6 hours for WDO.

Problem is, its your scheduled day off so they could be within their rights to pay you just travelling expenses (time). Then you might have to prove you were set to work your day off anyway.

If you were not due to work your official contracted hours and there are no deliveries for you to do there is no overtime for you in other-words.

I'm not that bothered about losing the O/T to be honest, I just don't want to get into bother for not attending when I've said I'll work my day off.

wont get in trouble. but if you want to go in, i'd suggest get ready etc phone up at 6am or whenever the first person in charge arrives at the office and find out if they need you still. if they do then go to work; arriving at 7am is no issue as its only ips time, so it wont effect you/anyone else. but your choice if you want to go in at the end of the day

Thanks from me an' all - not what I wanted to hear, but sh*t happens....I'll speak to my lineo tomorrow ( if only to say, can't get in, going to...etc ), and ask him about it, it can't hurt & he might be stupid enough to say "Go in, book it, get paid"
