Yesterday I rang in sick as I was full of flu, felt rubbish and felt it was better for all if I stayed at home and got over it. DIM's immediate response was; " You will still have to come in later and explain to me why you are sick or if not I will come to your house and see you". As I dont want that t**t anywhere near my home I opted to go in work at 10am to see him and as you can imagine got bullied and threatened and told that I seemed much better now and as I was there anyway should go out and deliver my walk. I tried and failed and want home anyway because I felt so ill. I feel as if I have been truly bullied for being sick and have been left wondering if they can do this. I can understand them demanding to come out and see me if I had been off for days or weeks but not on my first day of absence. Twats!

they can but is not usyal you dont have to go in to work for interview it can be done over the phone at worse they could come and get you if you were to ill to go in but as it is only the 1 day of absence it seems a bit much to do anything but a phone call if i were you would ask for a b@h form it seems like you dim trying it on get you rep involved good luck

Agree with all the above.. its harrasment and you should have not gone into work.

Bollocks.its your first day off and you got flu,so no need to go into work for a chat and no need for boss to come round
to your place,end of.

Should have told them your going to bed to sleep it off and if he comes round you wont be answering door as you
are genuinely ill and if he dosnt like your attitude then stick in a B&H form at your back to work interview.

Now as far as I am aware and this was brought in recently for any interview,fact finding interviews and stages R/M now have to give you 48 hours notice.

See your rep get the B/H form and have the bullying sod .

We have had a lot of complaints about the contact strategy when our members are off sick, this strategy is not agreed between the CWU and Royal Mail, this has been highlighted and sent to Headquarters and they are currently in talks about the attendance procedure, may I bring to your attention at this point, when you are invited to an interview for sick or for that matter ANY issue at all you are not obliged to attend without representation and you must have been given a full 48 hours notice for attendance, the contrary to this is if you are called to a fact finding interview for conduct (such as wilful delay or stealing ect) where you are still entitled to have representation if you wish.

I don't get any of this.
If i'm off sick i don't go back near work until i'm better....end of story.
If a manager comes near my house i'll set my feckin dog on him.

Do you know why he done it? because he knew you'd go in, if you'd have said no you are too ill to go to work and he is not allowed around your house he would have not been able to do s**t about it. He was trying to get you to go in and then to try talk you in to doing your walk, you fell for it, next time stand your ground, if you know it's wrong what they r doing then dont worry about it.

Dont forget if you've been in for more than an hour the days sickness you did have is no longer the case because you'e attended the work place get it listed as a part-absence.

a collegue of mine has just suffered a lung infection,he has been told to rest for a week ,he has had to take a weeks holiday,if he had not he would have received a 3rd stage warning. 18 months ago i had a heart problem in hospital for 4 days,had a very good sickness record,when i got back to work i received a 2nd stage warning.TOTALLY DISGUSTING WERE ALL JUST A NUMBER...

Thanks for all your replies. The man is a total idiot, thinks he can get away with anything he likes. Problem is that our office is one of those that has failed at the revision in a really big way and management are blaming all the postmen (and women) for their f**k up. Any bit of bullying seems to be okay for them at the moment. I will go down the b&h route I think. One problem though; the union rep not much better and ran off to hide when I went to find him on Monday

CK contact your branch and ask for the area rep to deal with it ,just because you have a unit rep does not mean they have to be the one to represent you .

You can request with given notice who ever you want.
